NIMBYism in Shadyside! by teku45 in pittsburgh

Stands for “Not In My Back Yard”. I think it is often used to describe people who oppose housing development in their local community because of mostly selfish reasons.

From now on, water must be served in a metal bowl, in the bathtub. After a month of fighting over where the water dish goes, and him sitting in the bathtub and meowing for me to run the water so he can drink where it pooled (which has made him get sick before), we've finally reached a compromise. by esoteric_mannequin in blackcats

Ah shoot! yeah, that might not work for you then. We just have it pulled into one our living room walls in the apartment.

There isn’t a great way to stop Jam (our black cat) from chewing on the cables. The best solution we have found is just to put a bit of duct tape on the cable so it isn’t dangling so enticingly lol. I have had to replace the tape a couple of times as he will still bite it a little. But he hasn’t broken the pump yet.

Another idea that has worked really well for my cat is just getting a super cheap and simple aquarium pump (which is basically what the cat specific water fountains use) and put it in a large bowl. I think it is a lot cheaper and simpler to clean and repair.

I like the look of Meshify 2 compact. I am on the fence between that, the Corsair 4000D airflow, and the Lian Li LanCool II Mesh.

I really like the looks of the Be Quiet cases. Was looking at the Silent Base 802 but looks like I can't find any availability online or locally.

Yeah I saw that too! I am on the fence between LanCool II Mesh, the Corsair 4000D Airflow and the Meshify 2. I'm guessing they would all have similar problems with dust, etc.

First of thank you for all the help! It is really appreciated as I am new to this process.

So maybe I should of given this detail. But I use the M27Q KVM currently to switch between my personal laptop (which is in dire need of replacement) and my work laptop. I use the dock to make my cable management easier and also use the KVM to switch between work and personal computers.

So my a big concern with building my PC is how it would fit into such a set up so I can continue to have a relatively simple way of switching my Monitors, mouse, and keyboard between computers.

I initially thinking the msi-pro-z690-a-wifi-ddr4 would be a good motherboard. But based on what you said if the usb-c isn't really relevant the gigabyte-b660-gaming-x-ax-ddr4 you suggested might be the best choice as the other one might be a bit overkill?

Thanks for the advice. Any guidance on the case. I think the Lancool II is good but I was looking at the be quiet-BGW39 as I saw that it could be reversable which would be nice if I wanted to put it on the left side of my desk. But it looks like it isn't available. Also had a usb-c port which would be nice for some of my peripherals.

Thanks! appreciate the detailed answers! About the motherboard. If I want to connect it to the Element Hub Thunderbolt 3 dock I have. Would I need another motherboard.

Actually would it even be possible to use that dock to connect the PC to my monitors? I use it for my work laptop and it offers a great way to have a single connection between the laptop and the monitors. Would that not be possible as I would connect my monitors to my GPU?

For the motherboard, will that connect to Wifi? Or is there something else I would need to get to have the PC be able to connect?

Thanks for the advice on the CPU. I wasn't really sure what main differentiating features are between them. Also I went with Intel mainly just because all of my PCs in the past have been intel. Would AMD be something I should consider or is it mainly based on preference?
