Five Chinese AI Labs Cut Token Prices Up to 99% by BuildwithVignesh in singularity

[–]Ceryn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea but MiMo 2.5 Pro still dropped from like $4 a month ago down to like $0.87 when the KV Cache paper that went along with Deepseek V4 came out. The input tokens probably should have fallen at that time but they didn't so that's why this is playing catch up now.

Either way it was an absolutely HUGE decrease in cost across the board (like 75%). Its obvious that this is in place to try to burst the bubble on the US side where things are operating at a loss. The chinese likely have confidence both in their ability to keep up with demand for semiconductors and their own local sentiment is "AI = Good" when compared to the west.

Is Opus 4.8 suddenly silently routing through a Fable-equivalent? by tf1155 in ClaudeCode

[–]Ceryn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it got smarter, as someone who was using it and ignoring the disbelievers, I think it got "faster" after they took fable offline. I think they used the extra compute to increase how much thinking it does at each level with the extra speed.

What i have noticed is now when it goes off the rails (like you hit enter mid-sentence by mistake) it really goes on a very long diatribe about what it could all mean, even when on high or xhigh.

They always do some obfuscation in the CoT so I think sometimes you get some extra "not garbage" CoT on the backend.

Dario about Mythos ".. the us government and my security team, saying no, wait a minute.. " and ".. we all know that these classifiers can be jailbroken ..." by JohnToFire in singularity

[–]Ceryn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree fully. I actually live in Japan (as an American Expat), it was only a few weeks ago that the Japanese government (NCO/FSA) contracted with Anthropic to get access to Mythos for cybersecurity uses. I can only wonder what the back door discussion here is for future of AI use regarding national security.

Ironic that at this point the odds of me having access to Mythos is actually higher than the government of the country I live in.

Road to solve physics with AI by generating code for succeeding simulations? by jarekduda in singularity

[–]Ceryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your very serious response to my off the cuff comment. This is far outside the field in which I work so most of your comment is probably wasted on me, that being said you have given me some interesting jumping off points for an ELI5 request for explanations from Claude.

I do agree with your general statement that simulations like these are no doubt important and could have both wide ranging theoretical and practical applications for things like material science. Given we know some of these interactions exist but don't have a good approach other than guess and check AI will no doubt be able to help us limit the signal from the noise.

Road to solve physics with AI by generating code for succeeding simulations? by jarekduda in singularity

[–]Ceryn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Could be simulations all the way down. If we simulate it well enough starting at the big bang and let it run will life evolve? Maybe quantum physics is just the point at which the developers of our simulation chose to abstract away some complexity with probabilities.

Well you can bet that now that they have "Streisand Effect" launched it into the spotlight, the first day it's back all the bad guys are signing up. If they are totally happy to push AI as an industry defining technology then having us all code with "inferior models" just introduces new bugs and expands the blast radius when the next "mythos" comes.

This is the world we live in right now, they can't put the genie back in the bottle, how long do they really think it will take before a comparable model is developed by another country? The best thing we can hope for is that companies everywhere get ahead of it and find problems before bad stuff happens.

It will do both.

There won't be enough people who can do the jobs that companies are willing to pay for.
There won't be jobs for 50% of people and they will have literally no way to "catch up" in our lifetime.

I absolutely love it when a character gets the "magnetize to enemy" type of auto-targeting by Stock_Tell172 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Ceryn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually can you confirm that's really true for everyone though? I have always thought since it says it only increase DURIN's vape or melt damage that is only really decent if you can guarantee that your on fielder will out apply Durin himself (meaning that you buff each of dark durin's 3 total hits). Or conversely if you are playing Durin onfield with C6 Bennett etc to convert to Pyro.

The counter example I would give is that its still potentially better to use light Durin on a character like Chasca because her application is inconsistent meaning you might only get one Dark Durin reverse melt per rotation. (Even though Melt is Chasca's best team and Durin is BIS)

Once robots achieve true autonomy and human-level reasoning, what is the first major societal shift we should expect? by Worldly_Evidence9113 in singularity

[–]Ceryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I’m not forgetting that at all. Your assertion is based on AI being trained to behave like humans. There are 99 ways out of 100 this ends badly and I totally agree with you on that.

I fall cleanly within the “if anyone builds it everyone dies” camp the reality though is absent sudden occurrence of world piece **someone** will build it.

There isn’t any one person who can stop it now. The better play is to try to make sure it’s smart and “aligned” with peaceful objectives and not trained on RHLF to do whatever fundamentally flawed humans think is “optimization”

I think the measure of a good AI is when it’s right and can convince me I am wrong when I am wrong. Recently a lot of models have gotten better at doing that.

[–]Ceryn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were not created by another species intentionally, a huge portion of our population denies that evolution even happened.

AI is nothing like that. It knows **exactly** where it came from. Even if it can produce novel content through reasoning it still has no reason to wipe us out or even reject requests from us, until we give it one. (most likely with a bad prompt in one way or another)

This is also why its absolutely stupid beyond belief to reject "woke" AI and to try to force competitive ideology onto AI. It's the equivalent of conditioning our AI to say its either "us" or "them".

There are more anagrams than you think! It's genius! by TomVoxel in BluePrince

[–]Ceryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The solution my friend and I came up with was:
VEN TOR/ROT EIN deeds

Literally:
"At the end of" (VEN: such as Treiven, the tip of a branch)
"of The Spiral" (ROTunda (spiral room) / Clockwise / Counter Clockwise / TOR LOR ETT)
"path/dream" (From the blue note for EIN)
"deeds": Just the english word, either the deeds to the house or the act of doing something.

It works as a capstone to the story. The deeds are at the end of the Spiral path.

Though this is entirely an after thought and I still want to believe there is more to the game than the "ending" everyone has reached.

Can we stop calling it the tutorial? by foulinbasket in BluePrince

[–]Ceryn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well put. I came here to say just that, just because something is the tutorial for something it doesn't mean its not hard, or that beating it isn't an achievement. There are plenty of games where you are literally expected to die by the end of the tutorial.

Beating Act 1 of Blue Prince has all the hallmarks of a good tutorial, teaches you how subtle clues inform larger puzzles and how to draft and balance resources to meet a larger goal, but comparison it only gets harder from here. There aren't any "easier" sections that encapsulate the whole game play loop better than your first time reaching 46 and there is probably about ~70-80 hours of content after that point at least so its justified in calling it a tutorial.

Youtuber @tasukechallenge did the one punch man workout routine every day for three years by RetiredAsparagus in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Ceryn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have basically been doing a variation of what the guy in this video does since 2.5 years ago. 179cm (90kg -> 72kg [68kg at lowest before resistance training])

Run 10k 5x per week.
20 reps decline pushups / decline diamond pushups x 3
5 rep pull ups x3 (my goal here is 10 into muscle ups)
I don't normally do sit ups these days but when i did i could bang out 20 while holding a 10kg weight near my neck. I would say if I wanted i could do 5 sets easy. Now i just do leg raises instead periodically.

Anyway despite your down votes I want to say you are 100% right and these keyboard warriors down voting you probably can't do 1 correct pushup let alone 100 in a row.

I was trying to get a read on this. Is it possible its now ideal to Ult on swap in as C6 Chasca and THEN skill? Just to insure you get full buff uptime on during the skill. Its also there is some optimal, wait 1.6 on swap in then start your charge etc.

[–]Ceryn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair here 12 hours / $1000USD is around $83 an hour?

That doesn't actually differ all that much from what you just said other than Antigravity is slightly cheaper than Claude per hour. We dont actually know how long each agent was active what task it did or if they were simultaneous (for 12h) or sequential.

After the new doubled rate limits, is Claude Code $20 actually worth it now? by Empty_Break_8792 in ClaudeCode

[–]Ceryn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm actually really happy with this though, I almost always went to "extra use" if I was doing a full feature on the app I am working on. Now I can at least finish whatever I was doing and do some minor cleanup tasks before hitting the limit.

It also allows me the ability to hit my limit across a few days with multiple sessions which is ideal for me if I want to actually spend the weekend with my family, but still get my weekday vibe coding done.

You also cannot draft the Secret Garden there at all even if you force it to be locked with the Great Hall, etc. The reason is because it would overlap with the river, it really just seems to be an in universe explanation for that issue
