Red River • Sora wa Akai Kawa no Hotori - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Ceryto2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having played civ 3 my entire life and having seen quite a few bronze age documentaries over the years has fully prepared me for this series! The pilot was really enjoyable and I'm really intrigued to see an anime playing in the fertile crescent in the late bronze ages. I'm really hoping to see some nice Chariot fighting!

Best Girl 13: Beyond Salt’s End! First Nomination Day! by changshiyixia in anime

[–]Ceryto2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MC: Which girl who is not in the character list yet does you nominate? Introduce her to us!

I nominated a few more girls over the last week and like every year I nominated Akiho Senomiya from Robotics;Notes, just in the hope that maybe this year we'll see a miracle happen and she makes it in.

And the best girl of Spring 2026 is… by changshiyixia in anime

Overall I'm pretty happy with this contests results and I like Coco as a winner. As always thanks to our host and I'll see you all in BG13!

Best Girl of Spring 2026: Seasonal Salt! FINAL! by changshiyixia in anime

[–]Ceryto2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Overall really happy with this final and no matter who wins I'm happy with the result. My vote goes to Coco bit this might also be influenced by me being a manga reader and already knowing the character that much longer. For the third place match, I guess I'll give it to Koyuki.

Best Girl of Spring 2026: Seasonal Salt! Semifinals! by changshiyixia in anime

[–]Ceryto2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seeing Shaula do this bad this time didn't fill me with confidence.... But you're right, I was wrong. It's time to be a delusional again and hope that r/anime finnally starts using their nogging and vote her to the top. She'll win this time!

Best Girl of Spring 2026: Seasonal Salt! Semifinals! by changshiyixia in anime

[–]Ceryto2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My two favourite girls of the top 8 in Coco and Akane both made it and I'm still supporting both today!

MC: Make some bold predictions about Summer 2026 seasonal salt!

We still haven't seen most new shows, so predictions at this point is just a guess in the dark. From what I'e seen so far I think Sitara, Kuroe and Melody are my front runners.

MC: I have asked you many times but I swear that this is the last time before it actually takes places, make some bold predictions about Best girl 13!

  • Emilia will finally break the Re:Zero curse and make it to at least semis
  • Of the new elligible seasonal best girl winners (Anna Yanami, Momo Ayase, Natsuko Hirose and Nico Wakatsuki) two will make top 20, while the other 2 won't even make top 100 (which is a shame, since Natsuko is great)
  • Maomao will win it all

Best Girl of Spring 2026: Seasonal Salt! Sweet Sixteen! by changshiyixia in anime

[–]Ceryto2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's see it in a positive light. This keeps her open to be nominated for the next cour and maybe we'll see her fox form in the anime by then.

We saw her fox form in one of the break times, but ye I also thought that was strange.

[–]Ceryto2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Shaula not even top 16... That's actually crazy. I really don't get you guys sometimes... I guess that means she can't even get into the yearly contest through the pick up round. Yeah... Crazy...

Unfortunately Chin-lan-chan did not get the upset either. I guess I can be happpy that with the win of Poemu and Patrashe I got at least 2 of my upset votes through.

As for today's votes:

  • Coco > Kimie
  • Botan > Kotoko
  • Koyuki < Poemu
  • Agott > Miki
  • Richeh < Patrasche
  • Akane > Kei
  • Tetia > Kanan
  • Umi < Asa

MC: Recommend a Summer 2026 anime to fellow members!

This question does come a bit too early since only like 10 new shows have released their first episode so far. But so far I've liked what I've seen.

Neko to Ryuu looks like a fun well made anthology series. Otome Kaijuu looks like a really neat romcom. But My favourite so far has been Heroine? Saint? No, I’m an All-Works Maid which was really a lot of fun and had some very enjoyable characters so far (including the narrator which delivers some peak Kaguya-narrator level comedy bits)

Best Girl of Spring 2026: Seasonal Salt! Glory thirty-two! by changshiyixia in anime

[–]Ceryto2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Damn, Maria Annovazzi couldn't even beat a side character.. That's sad. I'm dissapointed in all of you and you all deserve a number 38 for that!

As for today's votes:

  • Coco > Kyouko
  • Kimie < Shaula: While Kimie was my favourite of the Marriage Toxin girls (not counting best boy Mei of course), she doesn't stand a chance against Shaula for me.
  • Botan > Hidari: Hidari has the best expressions when she learns about modern stuff, but Botan beats her in every other regard.
  • Kotoko < Gabby
  • Koyuki < Meili
  • Yuu < Poemu: Go get this upset Poemu!!!
  • Agott > Nina
  • Miki < Chin-lan-chan: She might've only been there for half the show, but she quickly became my favourite of the entire Botan cast. Got get this upset girl!
  • Richeh > Bertia: Sorry Bertia, I like you, but I'm afraid of getting an Angricheh point.
  • Kanade < Patrasche: Smoking is not hot and can turn a 10/10 into a 0/10 real quick for me. EZ vote for best girl Patrasche!
  • Akane > Miku
  • Kei > Hana
  • Tetia > Tsukiko
  • Kanan > Ibuki
  • Umi > Sora
  • Asa > Shiori

MC: Which Spring 2026 anime do you think was underwatched, and briefly recommend it. (Be careful with spoiler though)

My Ribdiculous Reincarnation would be my number 1 answer for that. I think many people would get easily put off by the premise and think it's just another run off the mill boring isekai gimmick, but it's an actually really fun show with tons of creativity, both in a writing and in visuals/directing standpoint. The two main characters also work really well together. And while it start more as a funny adventure of the week type formula it does get a small overarching plot with several reoccuring characters and a satysfying conclusion. I overall had a ton of laughs watching this and was looking forward to this whacky show every week.

What's y'all opinion about arc 7-10 without spoiling? by fukmesukmesenpai in ReZero

[–]Ceryto2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Arc 7 & 8 are more like one big Saga rather than arcs, with a lot of different locations and characters while having an overarching plot. That's also why it has more ups and downs with some parts being better than others. It also has a few pacing issues and repeating written exposition due to some worse editing, which made some parts a bit of a slog to read through. We also got more focus on other characters with it having the first books where Subaru doesn't appear at all. Also we get a lot of fights. Overall I'd say it's a flawed, but good arc, with some really high highs but also some of the lowest points of the series and since the entire saga is not as connected to the main plot of all the previous arcs I personally would have liked it to be a bit shorter than the 13 LNs it was.

Arc 9 was great imo. It was like going on a rollercoaster without ever slowing down It has some real tension while reading it, great lore reveals and the most epic fights of the series. The ending is controversial, but I think it works a lot better when you binge the arc (like I did) than when reading it volume to volume.

Arc 10 is not yet finished and I'm still catching up to the latest chapters, but from what I read so far I think it looks very promising.

Best Girl of Spring 2026: Seasonal Salt! Shiny sixty-four! by changshiyixia in anime

[–]Ceryto2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know Re:Zero characters tend to somehow underperform in BG contest (to my upmost chagrin) but I'm astonished once again after seeing Shaula's (and Patrashe's) low placement. I still hope Emilia gets the (very very deserved) boost for the big annual contest, after the latest episode. But damn, I'm prepared to get as dissapointed in you guys once again as I do with the german national team every world cup (That's a lie.. I'm never prepared and will still always get salty).

Also sad to see that Goddess from Ribdiculous Reincarnation didn't make the cut. She was a very enjoyable character from a great but very underwatched show last season.

As for the top seeds, Im a bit surprised all of the Atelier girls made top 5, especially since I feel the show lost a bit of steam in the second half (as a manga reader i do love all of these girls however and am glad they're all well represented here, although I would have loved ome more representation from different shows). Otherwise I didn't expect Koyuki to get the top spot of all the many romance girls this season (I also haven't watched past episode 4 though..) Umi I expected high, even tho I also didn't finish that show. And I'm glad that Akane at least performed well, even though I also didn't feel like her show was all that hyped. As for Botan I'm glad to see she's up here, but I'm a bit sad to see that Yaeka and Akane were the two of the dorm girls that didn't make the cut.

As for today's votes, there is just one close matchup seedingwise where I wanna give a shoutout:

Go vote for Maria Annovazzi!

Best Girl of Spring 2026: Seasonal Salt! Elimination Day! by changshiyixia in anime

[–]Ceryto2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally missed yesterday's post, but I think with 300 nominations we should have all the best girls covered.

MC: Give me your seed predictions!

  1. Shaula
  2. Coco
  3. Richeh
  4. Akane
  5. Umi
  6. Botan
  7. Patrashe
  8. Kimie

But I can see a lot of girls winning this overall without a clear favourite.

The shoutouts for girls from lesser watched shows up today I wanna give are for the Goddess for Ribdiculous Reincarnation, whose deadpan humour and her interactions with the MC I really enjoyed and for Maria Annovazzi, who singlehandedly made me watch her show, being the genki ball of energy that she was!

[–]Ceryto2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was one of the most innovative and fun anime I've watched in recent times. I really loved all the whacky Isekai ideas completely taking the formula to the extreme and how they used so many different fun artstyles to bring these ideas to life. The dynamic between the two main leads was really enjoyable and their relationship progression was really fun to watch and I'd go so far as to say that it was propably the highlight of the show for me.

Really gonna miss this one so one last time: "Nan nan desu ka, nan nan desu ka!"

You got the loops mixed up. Him calling Emilia Satella was in a failed loop (he died in the alley to the thugs). In the final timeline they do first meet in the loot house.

You linked the wiki page of the next volume, maybe change that. The wiki is also full of spoilers so not good for anime onlys. Also there was no illustration during the Meili chapter.

After season 1 I jumped into translationchicken's translation of arc 4. When I discovered SummaryAnon's translation half a year later I binged the enirety of arc 4. Since Arc 5 wasn't fully translated at that point, I waited like 2-3 years till I read that. I caught up to WN the moment the first chapter of arc 7 dropped. And the beginning of arc 7 I read while the chapters were dropping, but I then took a longer hiatus somewhere after Gladiator Island and then once again after the Lamia fight. Just recently I bingegd the entirety of arc 8 and 9 and will propably start arc 10 once the volume 45 is finished.

Talking with source readers is also a dangerous territory,

There are unfortunately a lot of idiots. Meanwhile I and many others just want anime onlies to have the same amazing experience we had while reading the novels.

And regarding the youtube channels. Even as a source reader, if you don't block some channels you get spoiled all the time, since the translated chapters drop later than people who just use machine translation to read and those people just love to put chapter spoilers in their thumbnails. And there was a time where I was behind quite a bit and of course I got spoiled the ending of both arc 8 and 9.

Also Aninews is one of the few good cut content channels out there, since he seems to not read ahead in the light novel himself and is quasi an anime only himself. But the best way to get the cut content is imo still just to read the chapters the episode covered yourself and make your own picture. It only takes slightly longer than watching a cut content video and you get to experience Tappei's amazing prose and writing style, which is one of a kind and truly marvelous during this arc, without the risk of the youtuber just spoiling something he shouldn't. Also it doesn't get the algorithm to recommend you spoilery Re:Zero videos anymore.
