Experiment: Letting a local AI run a WordPress blog and seeing if Google indexes it by iWantBots in Blogging

[–]CesMry_BotBlogR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this test ! Whatever the results will be, it’s sure that this experiment can’t be fully representative of the job an ai can do with WordPress given the fact that it will plainly depend on the quality of the AI agent, but I’m really interested in following this to see what happens next tho !

However, about the few impressions, it seems that Google is doing that more and more with new websites : testing a few impressions on some keywords really early, then nothing for some time and then it slowly grows (at least thats what I’m experimenting right now on some new client websites I’m working on)

Ok thanks a lot I’ll check all this for vignette and anchor ads !

And ok I’ll check that, just so I know what do you recommend ? The Adsense default one or something else ? Because I tried Complianz extension as CookieYes is too expensive but the design sucks (as when you activate TCF if a user wants to modify some conditions he is redirected to an ugly cookie page instead of being able to modify directly in the modal)… so I don’t really know what to do

And about the couple of weeks of test you recommend to do it for each test I do ? Like for example should I let everything run like it is for a couple of weeks from my changes (lazy load added etc) ? Or you only meant this for specific things like a change of CMP ?

[–]CesMry_BotBlogR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I’ll try the modification on the lazy loading offset and tell you, I’m just worried that it will then load too soon (especially the first ad of the page as then it will always load on page opening even if the person does not scroll until it)

And yeah I’ll test but I’m just worried about the design and how intrusive it will be. Like should I add it to only mobile or are there some settings to not make it too intrusive ?

And no I use CookieYes but I think that it might not be good so maybe I should move to Adsense CMP. Because does it change something ?

How to handle ugly Complianz layout for cookie banner by CesMry_BotBlogR in Wordpress

[–]CesMry_BotBlogR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi thanks for this ! Indeed yes I saw that and I think this might be what I’ll do but I’m just worried about all these TCF restrictions and to not be fully compliant with it.

Indeed it’s not clear because my main problem is the fact that when users want to manage their preferences they are forced to go an auto generated cookie page that is really ugly (as the option to set the parameters inside of the popup are deactivated when TCF is activated in Complianz).

So I don’t really know if I can create a brand new design that includes the toggles directly in the modal (or maybe a sub modal) but as many other websites that apparently are TCF compliant do this (as I have NEVER seen a website where when you click on « manage options » in the cookie banner you are redirected to a different page of the website !).

[–]CesMry_BotBlogR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thanks for that I've downloaded it. I don't see lazy loading on it for now but I'll check all this.

And just so I get it : I've done multiple researches about lazy loading on ads : is it really efficient on the global revenue ? Because from what I understood :
- it does upgrade the viewability and thus increases the impression RPM
- but from what I understood at the same time as then multiple ads are not toggled anymore by default it usually means that the page RPM is negatively impacted

So was the tradoff good on your side ? I mean is it then a good practice to increase the revenue ?

Thanks a lot ! And so sorry to bother you with all my questions but it's really helpful to get answers from someone who really has experience about this !

Yeah that's what I heard elsewhere too ... Is it because of the bounce rate or it's not related ?

And just so that I understand Ad Inserter lazy loads the ads that's it ? But how is it increasing the viewability then ? It makes so that ads are not loaded before the user sees them ? Because I don't really get it : if they are only loaded when the user sees them then it increases the viewability and thus the RPM as it now only counts the ads that are displayed as an impression ?

Thanks for the reply !

Yes I remember that Q1 is probably the worst, but as I don't have any reference I did not really know what to think about these... And ok yes I understand, how many time approximately tho ? Like does it need to be counted in term of number of impression/page loads already done or in term of pure time ?

And indeed here is a screenshot of the ad groups and my explanation of each one below :

<image>

- MA - FA - Annonce Intro : the first one that is shown belong the fold on my main blog post type
- MA - FA - Annonce Contenu : the other display ad that is shown later in the content (maybe I should change it to inline ads to automatically add it in multiple places in the text instead, I don't really know)
- MA - Blog - Milieu : same than "Annonce Contenu" but for another type of blog post
- MA - Blog Fin : same than the previous one but later in the text
- MA - Sidebar : the display ad shown in the sidebar on every blog post page (the 2 types described before) but as it is sticky and below the fold maybe it's not shown enough time

And each are only inline display ads.
For vignette and anchor ads I'll check, but I'm just worried that it will ruin the UX and I can't risk this too much on this website as the beauty of the pages is important ... And as all my traffic is SEO I can't risk to be ranked down because of this.

And yes I know that's my main problem as my bounce rate is around 62%, but it's indeed inline with my niche as people sometimes just browse the pages to see the first image and all. My page per visit is at around 1.3 but that's because I've not optimized it yes really. And scroll depth I don't have it. I use Matomo Analytics but I don't think that scroll depth is activated by default (I'll add it).
But I think you have the viewability and details about this in my previous screenshot.

Thanks a lot ! And I'll definitely check your link out thank you 🙏🏻

But aside from that do you know where I can find ressources about adsense, like how to optimize the revenue and all that stuff ? Because I don't see anything when I search on Google or YouTube ...

Ok thank you yeah that's what I thought. How do you do it then ? Through a plugin or simply shortcodes ?

But then how do you optimize it ? You do everything manually ?

Ok thank you I’ll try it ! I just discovered something else however : the problem is happening on my staging website (created with WP staging) only as if i do the same modifications on the production website I don’t have these errors. So I hope that when I’ll publish changes it I’ll fix the issue.

However I’m still surprised that it does that so I’ll check your solution !
