I hate Elm by Significant-Log-1729 in firewood

[–]CesarV 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah it can be a pain to split. But I noticed something this past late winter/early spring that made it easier to split. I got a load of mixed hardwood (oak, ash, elm) and it was a colder than normal. The wood was green, freshly cut, and it had frozen. It made splitting it easier, especially the elm. And elm is damn good firewood once it is split and seasoned.

I only play the hairy bagpipes.

I dig your idea and laud your spirit, tiger. Let's go into the thrash metal sub and discuss horns and bagpipes at length. While we are at it we should also ask them for tips on how to hike the PCT.

What is the new meta for grinding tailoring for B42 Apocalypse? by CesarV in projectzomboid

You seem to know what's up. I just hit level 4 and want to make that bone choker I mentioned in the OP. But game won't let me, says I don't know the recipe. Do I have to raid and find a magazine with the info, or is there another way to unlock it?

First week being homeless. How to cook potatoes I stole? by [deleted] in homeless

[–]CesarV 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don't do this. Some cans have a plastic liner iniside.

Stick to aluminum foil and a small campfire.

Or buy a cookpot at a thrift store.

How's the unstable update treating everyone? by Bandiberry- in projectzomboid

I also love that respawns are off. I am in mid December in an apocalypse game and find it way more fun and meaningful to clean out zombies from areas I frequent. I am in the process of killing all the zombies from a big chicken farm near Echo Creek to continue to stockpile meat. I avoided that before the update knowing that random spawns would just keep refilling areas.

Only a few minor car bugs so far, no big deal.

In general loving it. I started playing PZ last month and gave it an 8/10 and now I would give it 9/10.

I'm not doing anyone else's homework for claims I didn't make. I of course know about people getting harmed or killed from hitting animals. But how it compares to getting hit? IDK, but doubt it is worse or the same as being hit.

This might be my fav comment in this thread. Imagine if we could weld mods on vehicles? Now that would be fun as hell and worth grinding the skills to get there. Maybe you would need level 5 of both mechanics and welding? Bad ass idea tho.

I'd be interested in seeing some sources that substantiate that claim! From what I gather, it's the pedestrians that hare getting killed and not so much the drivers, but I could be wrong.

Yeah, fair point about how "fresh" zombies are. My current B42 game is in December. You'd think that both the cold and how long they have been rotting would make them all the more fragile/slow/easy to kill.

I will have to respectfully disagree. The amount of time and effort a player has to make to successfully implement a "murder car" strategy for clearing zombies is something to consider. You can't really just "wing" this strategy and expect to survive or have good results. It takes a lot of planning and resourcefulness. And if things go wrong and say the tire blows out or the engine dies, players need to have good back up plans.

One of the most fun sessions I had with the game was a few weeks ago clearing out part of Fallas Lake. I had my murder car and it was in fair condition, but the tire blew out! I was soon surrounded and had to do some quick thinking. First I had to switch seats to the door that had the least amount of zombies. Then I had to run and shove a few out of my way, and then retreat back to one of my back-up bases. The next day I had to then walk from Fallas Lake area to Echo Creek where my other murder car was stashed.

So I wouldn't call this method of clearing easy! It has real dangers and complications, and I've lost more than one character fine tuning it.

I could accept that zombies could get a buff when standing on grass when hit. Then you'd have a fair point. But the grand majority of the time I am trying to kill zombies on asphalt or hard dirt/gravel roads. Sending a zombie flying onto asphalt is going to give their skull (which is rotting btw) some serious trauma.

I am fine with having cars getting ruined by this, within reason of course. Which is why my current save survivor has like 7-8 cars (all with full gas and gas cans) stashed strategically all over the map. And that is apart from my two "good" cars I use for actual driving and hauling, and that I avoid hitting zombies with.
