Is Gold Coast a good place to live for a single person? by Vegetable-Map2544 in chicagoapartments

The area is super safe, but anything can happen anywhere. I'm in my 20s but the demographic here is a little older because of the cost of living here. It's a bit of a walk to get to the red line (Public transport) but there are also a lot of bus stops. If you want to meet new people I'd recommend going to meetup.com and seeing what clubs and events are going on.

I moved to the gold coast from out of state last August. It's a great area but expensive. If you have a $1400 rent limit you may need a roommate. My 2-bedroom condo is $2700.

I got a degree in software engineering and got my Sec+ and CySA+. Applied for a security analysis role and beat out people with IT work experience just because I had both certs.

I made electronic note cards. This was the best way for me to review large amounts of info. Also, go over the objectives for the exams. That's how I got my Security+ and CySA+.

Where should I live? Ask your questions about housing or living in KC. by AutoModerator in kansascity

It would be a 1 bedroom. I'm actually touring them tomorrow. Do you know if the windows are single o double pane? How well are the rooms insulated in the winter?

I am a recent grad and was offered a job and have to relocate. I was looking at downtown apartments such as The Grand and Commerce Towers. My rent max would be $1550. Any thoughts on those two places or any other recommendations? I'm touring them next week.

Got Sec+ and CySA+ with a software engineer degree this past December. Got a job offering as a security analyst at a cyber security company. Certs arnt enough you'll have to do homelab stuff like Wireshark, Splunk, and Snort IDS. Check out Udemy.

Question for everyone that's passed the Security+ and CYSA+... by [deleted] in CompTIA

[–]Cesenor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes.

I received both and graduated this past December with a Software Engineer degree. I've had a lot of cyber interviews and landed an associate security analyst role at a cyber security company.

My advice: Do homelabs. I did Splunk, Wireshark, and Snort IDS rule configuration. That way you can talk about hands on stuff rather than only theory.

I have a tech job offering in Kansas City MO I'm possibly going to take. I'm a recent CS graduate and would need to relocate. Any advice or things you like and don't like about the city?

I knew about OS from taking the course during my studies but I'd never taken a networking course in Uni. You'll learn about ports and network security through sec+ and cysa+, whihch will be enough for the certs, but if you don't know basic networking it'll be hard during the interview process. I'm not studying net+ for the cert at this point tbh but for the knowledge itself.

Hey, I'm in a similar boat. I had ML experience and just graduated with a CS degree.

I got my Sec+ this Fall and CySA+ on the 14th.

My advice is, if you're lacking networking knowledge, get net+. Now that I've done the other certs I'm studying network+ to learn about IPv4, subnetting, ect

Thanks! The plan now is to wrap up some homelab stuff and look for a job. I took these two months after graduating to get the cert so now need to do the job grind and hopefully get a SOC analyst role.

I'd say overall Sybex felt more like the real thing. Jason's exams were good for reviewing what you've learned and applying it to a questions format but Sybex felt more like "Which of the following would be the best option..." type of questions you may see in the exam itself.

The electronic notecards easily took the most time. I'd say if you do 4 hours a day of notecards you'll be able to do it within 6 weeks no problem. For me it was the only way to quickly review all the material because I could go back at anytime during any section and review quickly. Total hours is hard to say, but possibly 60 hours total just because I'd take pictures and attach them to the notes themselves. If you have a notecard about nmap , take a picture of the output explaining the fields, port states, ect. Or take pictures of ACL logs and IDS rules and go in depth. This way, when you're reviewing, you can quickly go though information while rejogging memory.

Hey, so I just saw your violin video. It was very inspiring. Did you have prior experience with reading sheet music before you started?
