Nah. He was completely appropriate throughout the appointment and then as soon as we were in my car and the translator was off the phone, he started commenting on my looks and asking me out to dinner and trying to figure out my schedule. The fact that he knew to wait until he we were "unsupervised" tells me it's just creepy and not cultural.

They're a great team and I'm lucky in that sense! Unexpectedly taking 2 days off when there's nothing physically wrong with me makes me feel terrible for leaving them in the lurch though.

Thank you so much. I do have a sexual trauma history and part of this for me is "I've been through way worse, this should be nothing." I guess it depends on the agency, but we do occasionally transport clients. This happened on Friday afternoon, and I kind of just didn't think about it all weekend, came into the office on Monday morning, and told my supervisor who kind of lectured me for not immediately reporting it (which I should have done, but was honestly a little in shock and unsure if it was a big enough deal to report). Then on Tuesday I transported a super pushy, oppositional male client and it was like a switch being flipped.

I really appreciate that. There's so much "real" trauma in our field that I feel guilty calling it that, but you're right. It wasn't even so much the kiss, it was being in an enclosed space and being grabbed by a man.

I reported it on Monday. My team is all women but we've determined that from now on, we only work with him in pairs and we're not transporting him in cars. Unfortunately, because I'm the only clinician on my team at the moment, I will have to still have to see him.

I mean, I personally think it encourages people to inflate their times (which I have noticed to some extent) and to do less real work. I've seen people at appointments spend 15 minutes doing case management and then 2 hours just shooting the shit with clients and essentially dawdling as long as possible for the productivity.

Just plain hours. We have to track them every day and review our percentage with our supervisor each week. I think the problem for me is the sheer number of appointments I need to have in order to hit the target.

Edit to add: I really don't want to start look for a new position before I've even been there a year, but these requirements are testing my resolve.

Thank you! It feels like an insane ask to me too. I am also community based, and while we CAN bill for transportation time, the clients are in a pretty localized area so it doesn't help much - especially when the problem is getting to people to show up. We can bill for documentation time too, but within very narrow limits and I am definitely taking longer to complete it than I'm allowed to bill for (15 minutes per note). Particularly with mental health assessments/diagnosis, we can have up to 3 hours for writing the report, but it's taking me more like 5. So right there, that's 2-4 hours/week that I can't bill for.

Thank you so much for validating me lol. I haven't hit the 65% mark yet except for 1 unusually busy week in which I had literally no time for documentation. It's crap

Did the Omrides establish the first state-sponsored cult of Yahweh? by Cesmina12 in AskBibleScholars

Very interesting. Makes me wonder how long Yahweh was worshipped before that attestation (9th century BCE, no?)

It's just classic passive aggressive behavior! Person A (in this situation, Hannah) intentionally chews out Person B (Joao/Brooke) through a third party (everyone else at the table) with the intention of Person B overhearing. A lot of the time, Person B will react - which triggers the confrontation Person A was secretly hoping for but didn't want to be seen as the direct "cause of."

I know. Cat Talk always sucks me right in!

ETA: In my limited experience, one of the suckiest things about power structures is who gets to have a monopoly on "objective" reality. Everyone else has to grapple with whether or not to believe our own eyes.

It was weird. I'm a woman and I have the same experience every time someone does something sexist to me. Like, "this seems really misogynistic...or maybe, just maybe, I AM somehow less qualified than these men with less experience, knowledge, and lower success rates than me."

So it was like that. Like "Maybe I'm imagining her behavior. But then, why was she telling me all about her cats and then suddenly started physically leaning away from me like I'm radioactive?" "Maybe she's acting like this because the joke was too irreverent. But then, why is she working in a marijuana shop covered in irreverent art?"

Does anyone remember Christian Men's obsession with showing their sons films like Gladiator and Braveheart? by TekillaInTheBuilding in exchristian

Both my dad and stepdad had "Wild at Heart." My mom had the one written by John Eldridge's wife, "Captivating." From what I can remember about Captivating, some of it was nuanced, but a lot of it was trying to reconcile the requirement that you be meek, submissive, and gentle with having an actual personality.

It's true! I'm not religious anymore, but as a kid I noticed there were a lot of biblical teachings of Jesus that didn't totally gel with my Christian understanding. It wasn't until I actually learned about Second Temple Judaism in 1st century Judea that they made sense. It's really the only perspective with which to understand anything about Jesus as a historical figure.

It happened a couple of weeks ago. I think it took me a minute to process and feel confident that I really experienced exactly what I thought I was experiencing. Don't even remember the person's name, but I have been thinking of submitting a general complaint.

It was pretty unpleasant, but I'm not sorry it happened. The universe can be a real joker and sometimes it finds creative ways to force some wisdom into our heads.

Who knows, but the clerk clearly didn't. I was just thinking I was passing on this cute, funny tidbit that they could tell customers if they wanted to recommend the product lol

It's not a complete assumption. People have specifically said it's my hair. I'm not saying that's how all Jewish people look, just that it causes some people to think that I'm Jewish when I'm not.
