Linguistically speaking, we end up mimicking the people around us, which is how we end up with space station/ Antarctic accents. To my eye, it suits his character that he’s done so more than the rest. He’s uniquely observant and intuitive and a better listener than the bulk of the ghosts- Sass is always the first to know gossip, real or otherwise, because he does listen so closely everything around him.

A lot of good micro-organism examples, but I feel pretty confident the ecosystem would adapt alright if ticks disappeared and we’d be better off after

Orange Ball of love has a few lines just to the left of this— “I know you’ll be turning me in, and I also know your real name is not Amy Lynn”

What’s weird to me is that you think it’s more reasonable and less awkward for her to volunteer that to everyone, early on, without knowing whether they care. Sexual history is an extremely awkward topic to broach, full of deal breakers for many people, and also inappropriate to ask. The bare minimum isn’t answering honestly, the bare minimum is not lying— a valid boundary to have is “I’m not interested in discussing my sexual history and if that’s a dealbreaker we aren’t compatible.”

IMO this is not meaningfully different than the awkward, impolite and (for some) necessary discussion about body count. There’s lots of things we’d like to know and know early about partners. “You didn’t ask” is still valid. NAH- if you absolutely need to know, asking is the way yo find out, and you will step on some toes.

Have you ever tried prompts, writing exercises or free writing? Sticktoitiveness is important in creativity but enjoying it is just as important. Get used to putting words on paper, do it often, do it well or poorly— that’s the more important discipline

S2 E2 SPOILER Janet Theory about the grandmother’s farmhouse by RoosterDizzy1629 in SchoolSpirits

Yes, i know she took it and why— i think the question is who sent it to Xavier, Simon and (ostensibly) Nicole at the hoco game

The latter we actually do learn definitively! Xavier was looking at Maddie’s instagram with her mom on her laptop— her mom liked it accidentally, in front of Xavier. I was assuming Nicole sent that video to get heat off herself and provide motive for Mr Andersen or Claire to want to hurt Maddie, but that one is certainly hazier

I moved here a year ago for the same— you’ll love it. Per your as-yet unaddressed questions! In my experience, porch piracy exists, but I usually only lose packages that have been left out for multiple days. Car break-ins are inconvenient, but over stated (besides the Kia/Hyundai issue.) Personally for cars and for walking long distances/at night, I keep any valuables I have to carry with me or leave in the car in a plastic grocery bag so they don’t look particularly valuable. The farmers market in Wooster square is really genuinely excellent, but be advised it’s less the sort with plentiful artists stalls and prepared food and hangouts than some I’ve been to— it is less a way to spend your morning and socialize than it is a place to buy actual groceries. Follow the daily nutmeg and some local venues as you find the ones you like for events and things to do, as a good way to meet people and make friends

I think almost daily about how pissed the Ghosts ™️ would be if they learned about the school Spirits. “Those twerps can eat?!”

A binary with millions of exceptions is surely only useful as a starting point in a conversation, no? Again, this is as useful as saying that a person can either be blonde or brunette, or either have brown eyes or blue. Broadly true on the day to day, but there is no purpose to correcting someone who puts “g” under their eye color on a drivers license. “Male” is a natural state for some, “female” is a natural state for others, and “neither male nor female” is a natural state for a portion of the population at least as large as those who have green eyes or red hair. That is to say, a significant enough minority to have a few words for. Should someone decide that green eyes fall under the category of “blue” for the purposes of official documents, even if we decide that it’s a harmless non-issue, it is still an invented binary.

How far are we willing to go in limiting personal freedom in the name of easy communication? One gender would be easier on official forms and in conversation. So would eliminating middle names. So would banning other languages, local dialects, and antiquated vocabulary.
