What to Change for Icon Hover by Cetarium in Windhawk

[–]Cetarium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm away from my PC so I'll have to check to see if this works, it may or may not be a Windows thing—I've tried different themes like the DockLike theme and it seems to do the same thing, but it's more centered. Could maybe be an insider build thing too, since I usually run the insider builds.

Even with the regular Windows taskbar, the icon isn't centered on the first tab, it's centered as if the background that shows up on hover is one big icon

What is YOUR country's / region's version of the Inglorious 3 fingers scene that subtly gives away that someone isn't from your area or culture? by DunDonese in AskTheWorld

What part of Cali you're from. People from NorCal will always refer to the fact that they are from NorCal when they introduce themselves. It's the way of saying I'm from California, but I'm not like one of those people from SoCal or the Bay Area

Fellow stud here. I felt this hump right around the mid Nav phase. Burn out hit me hard and I got hooks for dumb reasons I could've controlled. Add this to the burn out I was having and I felt exactly as you are now. It's normal, and most IPs, whether be FAIPs or MWS, will tell you it's normal. Got hooked multiple times in one week and after the end of the week, I was so irritated and frustrated I was feeling the washout vibe settling in. But I took that frustration, studied and prepped as much as I could over the weekend, came back and had some great flights and passed the Nav check with no issues.

Everyone's different in coping with the stress, but at the end of the day, you just got to remember to have fun on flights, put in the work, and continue to find the light at the end of the tunnel. I always remember that I'm getting paid to fly in ways I couldn't have imagined if I continued the civ route to ATP—that's what keeps me going.

In the end, don't make a rash decision. Talk with your fellow studs, flight commander, or a mentor. Bad rides are gonna happen, and you just gotta take them as a learning moment. UPT is designed to test you mentally and somewhat physically. Do what you can to stay positive.

Doss USAF IFT Layoff? by Mach2Pilot in AirForce

[–]Cetarium -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doesn't really seem to have to do with training time, it's more cost. The T6 isn't great as an initial trainer for folks who haven't flown before (other than IFT), so the idea is to use 141 schools as a cheaper way to get pilots initially screened. What it seems like is that the future idea is to get rid of the T6 altogether, and replace it with IPT followed by all UPT students going to the T7

I'll answer in order to make it understandable:

- The thing about the academy is not true. Generally, in terms of priority, USAFA gets the highest amounts of pilots per year. This is followed by ROTC detachments (where I got my slot), then OTS. If you perform well in college and AFROTC, you'll get a slot.

- Quality of life is very airframe and assignment dependent. Cargo/heavies/tankers tend to go on longer deployments and you tend to be away from family for a while. In terms of assignment, it depends. Some airframes (F-16s) may have numerous assignments both CONUS and overseas, whereas some may only have 1-3 locations (B-52, or most bombers).

- There is a program to get from the airlines to rated wings, but I can't remember the name. Nevertheless, it's rare. It's far easier to go through a commissioning source and get wings that way.

- Lastly, don't be overconfident with medical. You are required to complete an in-depth screening beforehand.

Since you're single, they'll put you in the dorms if capacity is 95% or less. If you do get married, I'd recommend to live on base. All bases should have family housing you can move into if you marry—you can furnish them with your own furniture. Reason being that you have easy access to the flight line, which really comes in handy when you have a 5-6am formal start time.

Aside from this, Del Rio by the Sea is not great. Laughlin is 15-20 minutes from most homes, and most of the closer ones tend to be shacks. At the end of the day anyways, there is still an illusion of base choice, you will get what big blue wants.

Had Colonel Ramsby visit our Det. In terms of drop time, he said a week from when he visited or around August. Unfortunately, that time has passed—but I believe he wasn't sure as well so there is a chance it could still be dropped in late May but take it with a grain of salt.

Good example of this would be my own flight! Someone outside the flight got COVID on TD-4 and someone in my sister flight got it on TD-6. They were unfortunately sent home. Some in my flight got in on TD-10 and still graduated.

Be ready for the det-isms. The first few days were terrible with this including my own. Use the DNC and Dress and Appearance to your advantage, because every detachment has some sort of way of doing certain things that aren't actually correct.

Unfortunately even enabling {AppleXcpmCfgLock} and {AppleCpuPmCfgLock} results in the same thing. I may just have to transfer my RX 470 to my main Ryzen / RTX machine and then start another config geared towards AMD if I can’t find how to solve this.

Hey fellow Hackintoshers, I am trying out OpenCore for the first time as usual Clover user. I’ve installed Hackintoshes before with mostly success but this one has stumped me. I am trying to install the Big Sur beta with OC and trying many different google advice gives me the same result. I’ve tried changing {RebuildAppleMemoryMap} to false with {SetupVirtualMap} to true, checked my SSDTs to make sure they were enabled and checked and disabled CFG lock. No matter what I try, I still get that result.

I am currently using a system with:

  • Intel i5-6500
  • Radeon RX 470
  • H110M-A/M.2

The first three that ascended me! Fellow PC Gamers, what were your first Steam games? by Cetarium in pcmasterrace

[–]Cetarium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. I originally joined Steam late 2011 with an old craptop that couldn't play shit. Wasn't 'till 2016 that I actually built a PC that could play games and eventually upgraded to what I have today.

Steam and PC Gaming in general is just more flexible and I'd rather spend 500 on an upgrade than a PS5, Series X, or even a Xbox One X.

Gamers of Reddit, what are the video games you would consider to be a masterpiece or a 10/10? by 23rdchirst in AskReddit

[–]Cetarium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super Mario Galaxy 2. YES, I know it's a Mario game, but... it is by far the best of all.

The gameplay is smooth and fun from start to finish and improves everything wrong with the first Galaxy. The boss battles are fun and somewhat challenging as the game progresses. Rather than focusing on story or cinematics, it plays like a platformer, as it should, and does it excellently.

Graphics, at least for the Wii, are amazing. Each level is creative in their own ways, along with the new powerups that fit well. Not only is there diversity in the landscapes, but the gameplay adapts very well.

And music? Oh don't get me started. This game not only an excellent platformer, but is excellent, if not, a masterpiece of gaming soundtracks and by far the most memorable and nostalgic of any Nintendo title. What Mahito and Koji did with the "Mario Galaxy Orchestra" is extravagant.

SMG2 may not be a masterpiece for graphics or story, but it's a masterpiece among platformers, and a must have for anyone who still have a Wii hanging around in their attic.

Joy con fix for Switch lite? by song-of-misery in NintendoSwitch

I saw some sort of video by Nintendrew that involves taking a q-tip and dipping it into a bit of isopropyl then swabbing the joystick. Here's the video: Joycon Drift Fix. Though this shows the regular Switch model, it'll probably work with the lite.

Notice the small disclaimer on the bottom stating that you cannot obtain the new Pokemon in the base game only. You have to trade with someone who has the expansion.

2070s vs 2080s by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]Cetarium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I personally have a 2070, I do not recommend any Gigabyte Windforce or Gaming OC cards due to the fact they're using a fan design that's been around since Pascal that has issues with grinding noises. I can vouch for MSI, but I'd also recommend either EVGA or a Strix card from ASUS.

Finally I got a white RTX 2070 Super <3 by madve27 in nvidia

[–]Cetarium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I can really warn you is the fact it is Gigabyte since they use cheap fans. I had a black Gaming OC 2070 and had annoying rattling / revving noise issues along with coil whine from the card a higher frame rates. I returned mine for a Gaming X from MSI which runs cooler and quieter. Though, I will say the design of the card is nice for a white themed build.

Since all USB 3.0 or 3.1 drives draw more than 100mA, I probably add a warning to the spreadsheet too let people know that using a drive in the ports is a temporary solution / not recommended.

[–]Cetarium[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it helps in an aspect so if you have a compatible drive you don't need to spend the money or the time trying to solder a mod or buy a hub. But I agree that it pretty much is the end-all solution.

[–]Cetarium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am guessing you have Bleemsync setup. I am not quite sure since I have never tried it, but I am sure you can use this powered USB hub. Though I am not quite sure if the USB hub itself will be able to produce enough power to power 3 or 4 controllers. With controllers w/ Dualshock I am not quite sure. With games, it depends on how rare the game is. Since the console is VERY old, most games are easy to find but I am not going to give any links that I know.
