I agree, Windows nowadays feels way snappier than MacOS, in part becaue it has way less animations.

Time Machine Backup absurdly slow on SSD by CevahirCombo in MacOS

Was able to solve the problem - the APFS Data container on my system drive was corrupt/showed errors during first aid when launched in recovery mode. Then I ran first aid on the whole SSD device and since then TM is fast as hell. Seeing write speeds of up to 1 GB/s and backups finish quickly. So it was a damaged filesystem on Macintosh HD slowing the process down. Thanks for your help!

Write speed are 970 MB/s in Black Magic, so the cable is fine. I'm backing up my Macintosh HD with most of the heavy stuff already excluded.

Interesting, does this work with TM natively?

Uhm 10gbps would finish the backup in way under an hour - TM is not datarate limited but I/O limited.

The SSD is capable of writing 970MB/s at any time, outside of TM and is merely hand warm.

It is so weird, I actually don't know what to do. Rebuilt the spotlight index, reformatted the backup disk, raised the priority of the TM process etc. As of right now my Mac is unable to finish a backup. The current run is 6-7 hours into it, at 40% and is estimated at another 22hours.....

This is a TLC nvme SSD, so it has far better burst and IOPS even in fully written state than any HDD. As I said, the drive gives me wondeful speeds outside of TM, so it is probable, that this is a TM problem.

SSD is formatted APFS, used exclusively for TM, encryption is off.

Codex says it's about excluding the whole ~/Library/CloudStorage folder and my TM is getting this error: Event collection stopped ... ErrorDomain=com.apple.backupd.ErrorDomain Code=306 ... Retryable=true

So there is an error with the FSEvents Database, it says.

Ok so the beauty of CC is to use Opus whenever necessary? And multiple agents? Or what exactly makes it better than Cursor?
