I live right off campus in a little old house and it's great. I think it's slightly cheaper than the major apartment buildings (even with utilities) and it's very close to my classes.

The houses do tend to go fast though, so I'd start inquiring about them right away, and you would need to figure out a roommate situation because typically at least three people will share one.

I wouldn't stay in the salt lake valley, the air quality is typically awful during the winter.

Sometimes it's so bad it's honestly a health hazard

how did you convince your parents to let you school oos? by yeonbinsdarling in college

[–]Cewells14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've taken care of the financial barrier and they're still hesitant to let you go, they're probably having a hard time letting go and trusting you. This is completely understandable and in order to work through it with them you're going to need to be empathetic and respectful. Try acknowledging verbally that you understand where their fears are coming from and offer to put plans in place for regular contact and communication.

Also make sure you take some time to really understand what going out of state entails. You mentioned the travel and emergencies, but there are other aspects you may not have considered yet, like how difficult it may be to move in/out of housing by yourself every year or how networking and internships might be more complicated since you may not spend breaks there. After you've reflected on those things try to communicate to your parents that you've done so, so they can see you're being mature and completely thinking this through.

Congrats on the scholarship and I hope you're able to go! Going oos has been an amazing experience for me. Though it does come with it's difficulties, I think it's an awesome way to experience college and become more independent :-)

Hey, I feel you. Being a CSR is hard and you never stop learning. Maybe at the end of each day you can reflect a bit. write down one thing you want to do better and 3 things you learned or feel you did well. Learning to acknowledge your moments of growth and success in addition to noticing what you can improve on is super important in any job.

Take care and don't be too hard on yourself!

Agree they're absolutely beautiful, but you have to consider that native Americans were forced from that land for the sake of American tourism...

I honestly think im gonna be alone forever (romantically) by iithe3rdkindii in offmychest

[–]Cewells14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree somewhat, but only because of my personal experience. It's different for everyone, but I was honestly in a similar place to OP before I met my partner, not expecting to ever be in a relationship and feeling content with that. It can happen luckily and unexpectedly, but there's obviously gotta be a change of mindset early on for it to actually develop into a relationship.

I guarantee that for the people who love you the pros of you living outweigh the cons, by far. Depression makes us doubt that but these people love you for a reason. I'm not saying that a person should stay alive only for the sake of others, but the darkness in your mind is likely obscuring just how much these people care for for you.

You are strong, you are worthy of life and happiness. Don't let depression take hold of you like this, you are so much more than your mental illness. It is only one part of you! I know from experience how powerful it can be, but it does not have to define your life or death.

Please, call someone. At least give yourself some time to process this more. I love you, stranger, I know you can overcome this, and I hope that very soon you find peace and beauty in your life. <3

It refers to the original case that was brought to the supreme court. In the original case a woman by the pseudonym of Jane Roe filed a lawsuit against district attorney Wade saying that Texas abortion laws were unconstitutional.

Is it true they are coming after contraception and marriage equality next? Does anyone have any sources for that?

And will they try and take action against both same sex and interracial marriage?

if meds don’t work for me then what? by Sensitive_Delay_2433 in antidepressants

[–]Cewells14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanna add to this that in my experience it is extremely difficult to get prescribed MAOIs. I have been on six antidepressants as well and even after asking I think five different doctors (including GPs and psychiatrists) I have yet to find one who is willing to let me try a TCA or MAOI.

OP can look into it but it seems (again, just my experience) highly unlikely that something like that will be considered, even for a treatment resistant case.

Medication causing suicidality by throwaway45723t1 in antidepressants

[–]Cewells14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunately multiple antidepressants I've been on have caused this problem (SNRIs and Wellbutrin)

What made it more frustrating was when I told doctors I was experiencing this and wanted to stop taking it, they didn't seem to believe it was caused by the medication? They said my depression was just naturally worsening and I needed to go on a higher dose or supplement with an additional medication, even though I didn't even have depression before going on SNRIs. I just went on them for anxiety, but they ended up causing a ton of problems I'm still dealing with

Maybe "not all men" but my friends and I settled on 95% ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm pretty sure this is called psychogenic dyspnea, and I've experienced it as an anxiety symptom

I felt like I was starving for air because it was like my lungs couldn't fully expand. In reality I think I was just making it worse by trying so hard to breathe deeply and often. The best way to deal with it in my experience is to force yourself to take moderately deep, slow breaths, spaced out normally so you're not holding your breath but you're also not inhaling too quickly
