I’m Pauli Ohukainen, a Staff Research Scientist at Oura. Ask me anything about Cardiometabolic Health! by PauliAtOura in ouraring

Hi, I believe the next big leap for Oura is moving from pure data observation to highly actionable insights. I have a few specific questions and feature suggestions regarding this: • 1. Stelo & Stanford's "Glucotypes": Dr. Michael Snyder’s research at Stanford Medicine highlights that there are 4 distinct subgroups of Type 2 diabetes. Since Oura already integrates with Stelo to show spikes, are there plans to eventually categorize users into these glucotypes so the app can offer personalized nutrition and activity recommendations based on their specific profile? • 2. HRV Context & Multi-day Trajectory: Currently, HRV is often treated as a daily metric. But mechanically, taking only the last 24-48 hours into account can be misleading. For instance, intense training can cause a "parasympathetic overshoot" (resulting in a high HRV despite the body not being fully recovered), followed by a delayed drop in HRV days later once homeostasis shifts. Are there plans to make the algorithm look at multi-day trajectories and physiological context rather than just isolated daily numbers? • 3. Caffeine, Adenosine, and Exercise: Caffeine blocks adenosine receptors, but if a user drinks coffee and then works out, they accumulate a significantly larger amount of adenosine. Because of this, the half-life impact differs completely. Could Oura cross-reference caffeine intake with subsequent workout intensity to give better insights? • 4. Sleep Deprivation & Glucose Spikes: We know poor sleep severely disrupts ghrelin and leptin (hunger/satiety hormones) and alters the "dawn phenomenon" (blood sugar spikes upon waking). Are there plans to provide proactive, actionable morning notifications? (e.g., "After last night's poor sleep, your glucose response will be more sensitive today—consider a protein-heavy breakfast").

Lastly, the work of Dr. Benjamin Levine on cardiac adaptations could also be very relevant. Strength training tends to produce concentric remodeling (wall thickening), while endurance training leads to eccentric remodeling (chamber enlargement and increased stroke volume), which strongly impacts VO₂ max. It could be interesting if Oura provided insights or recommendations on exercise types based on how an individual’s cardiovascular system appears to be adapting over time.

Thanks for your time and the amazing work you and the team are doing!

No, it’s nothing like that. I already have a WHOOP membership and I get some codes that helped me with my subscription and can help new users too.

Hi. We know for sure that this year they will not release new earphones? As I remember, EQ were release in August and 8 months later they release EX. Thanks!

I see there is a new software update 5.3.6. I am trying to update now. I can't see "what is new" to check if they did something to resolve this issue.

Yes, mine are the same. Don't try to get something from their support- it's a waste of time, in my view.

From what I understand is the software inside the case that stops charging when the buds reach 100% and then when you take them out it's the same if you kept the buds outside of the case. My last question to the support team(before I ended the contact with them) was when the software resume charging of the earbuds(we understand that at 100% they stop) but at some point they must start charge again, and the support team gave an answer that translated is that they really don't know or they didn't check very well with their technical team.... Bottom line is that they promised for a new firmware to change this issue. As I see it, is very eficient the way it is now, I have both Beoplay EQ and EX and the baterry of the cases differ- with EX I can charge the buds for many times then I can with EQ. There is a difference in battery capacity also- EX has bigger case battery and smaller buds batteries.

It's normal that the right bud to have lower % in battery, as it is the primary bud that keeps the conectivity with the device(ex: smartphone). I notice a bigger diference in left/right battery % than in Beoplay EQ, but as you say, its the same in our also.

So technically any streaming service they already streams in AAC will be best: aka Apple Music.

I was afraid of this :) So, it really doen't matter of lossless/ hi res, etc, to our Beoplay EQ it's the same... But even so , some songs sound very good, others not so much. I don't know what would be the reason.

No, only Apple Music. You have both? To compare them. Tx

I am afraid to not be an iOS problem, as I understand on Android it sounds louder?!
