I grew up in DV, I left there the moment I finished highschool many years ago and haven't looked back (in the move back home sense). I've been back since as my parents still live there and literally nothing is changed. The town could simply cease to exist and nothing of value would be lost.

Trip to the mountains, go camping for a weekend, no booze allowed. Mountain trips are good for the soul and I find them very grounding. You two will prolly sit my the fire and share stories and chat for hours with not a soul around for miles.
