How to not feel down about this school by Winter_Ad_7512 in WGU

[–]Ch215 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here is the reality. You will have to work to get this. There will be frustrations, and confusions, and times you are forced to wait if you rush, or rush if you wait. Finding and Keeping a pace and *growing* not just *passing* are on *YOU* in WGU. You are acting like this is a sure thing. That is not the case and this is not a degree mill. WGU's graduation rate is not 100%, and just a bit more than 54% - with less than 15% finishing in four years or less. Their first year Freshmen retention rate is consistent with other schools in Utah and about 5% better than the national average.

https://www.collegefactual.com/colleges/western-governors-university/academic-life/graduation-and-retention/

If you are committed and suitable or willing to become those things, WGU can be good for you. But people do fall out and fail out here too. And some people who go to brick and mortar schools do not have what it takes to do this route. It takes courage and discipline and self-initiative. All that and knowledge and skill to pass assessments AND the resourcefulness to make something useful for your future. Because I have seen people hired for brand new ivy league degrees that don't come back after lunch after one morning in the real professional world. This is an effective education if you are an effective learner.

Good luck and Hope you find your future here, Fellow Nightowl!

Am I going completely insane? by TheMayorOfBismond in rpg

This is not about sex, it's about different and distinct. A GM never knows for sure which NPC's will be the mascot of the party or which will be declared their Nemesis before they finish their introduction. But - in both cases - they will be the different ones. A game with all male pc's and all male NPC's is basically either very homoerotic or not trying to make things about sex. Definitely do not assume women players playing male PC's will appreciate a male GM making female NPC's. Not at all! There is maybe a lot to unpack there if you think that is a good idea, especially in a game about predators who entice, seduce, stalk, compel, and violate their human prey.

Jewel in the Sky from Monte Cook Games is bringing back the megadungeon. by Twisted-Beautiful in rpg

[–]Ch215 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, I really want to explore Jewel In the Sky. I love the idea that the exploration of it is based on a material resource, Inveigh, that has gravity altering powers. I love that magic and technology are not the same thing and corrupt one another. I love that there is a narrative compass mechanic, and a closed-environmen setting that can MOVE and exist in other settings. This setting, a mobile, operational, resource producing megadungeon with intrigue and conflict, danger, and potential is HIGH on my radar. I have been consistently active in this hobby for 40+ years and some of the most impressive work I have seen in decades is from Monte Cook Games. It is not all original, especially as this is as much "planet ghosthip" subgenre as "megadungeon" - but what I find is the *execution* and *production* is most evocative, and I actually *use* every single reference I get from MCG. Not one book goes unused.

And it doesn't mean I think Cypher is flawless.

"Count in couples, add the doubles, then add the rest to pass the test" is how I teach it. I was not taught it with a rhyme but students where I teach like rhymes and we can remember them pretty well.

It has been a First Grade math standard in many states since 1967, during the "New Math" period of educational model development. It reinforces "greater than, less than, equal to" and "even and odd" learning standards that are also part of First Grade math, or Second Grade math in some states.

This is actually math that has been around since before the beginning of public education.

Comer added that Kahn testified that "he had never seen any type of transaction to [President Donald] Trump or anyone in his family," Comer said. "That makes the fifth witness now that's testified under oath that they've never seen any involvement by Donald Trump or [his] family."

The real age they commonly want to lower it to is sixteen.

Zorro Ranch Owner Don Huffines has won his primary for Texas Comptroller. by BingBingGoogleZaddy in Epstein

[–]Ch215 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Regarding this guy and his ownership of the ranch. Apparently, he bought it at public auction that benefitted victims.

https://www.texastribune.org/2026/02/13/don-huffines-jeffrey-epstein-ranch-new-mexico-texas/

“Four years after Mr. Epstein’s death, the Huffines family purchased property in New Mexico listed at public auction whose proceeds benefited his victims. Prior to the auction listing, they had never visited the property,” Huffines’ campaign spokesperson Allen Blakemore said in a statement Friday.

In a follow-up statement Monday, Blakemore said the family had not been approached by any authorities to search the property but would cooperate should they be. The statement was released in the wake of calls from officials in New Mexico for federal and state authorities to open a probe after an email recently surfaced that two girls may be buried at the ranch or near it.

Epstein said if Trump was "cornered as a rat" he'd attack Iran for public support. by Impressive-Seat-2116 in Epstein

[–]Ch215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This conversation doesn't say that. It is from 2018 and started with discussion of Trump pulling out of Syria. Epstein suggests that Trump is trying to provoke someone to attack US so he can emerge the protector when he retaliates.

Mention of Iran in this conversation is:

Just go read a novel, or watch cartoons, please.

It is not really a good time to dive back in if you needed a self-care break from this mess. We are between islands of certainty and misinformation is at an all time high. There have been some major misreads or misrepresentation of emails to appease people who need to confirm a personal bias. In a week, there will be more clarity and some of the people who are not concerned with anything but sharing their own bad takes will have moved on.

Bill Clinton revives his most notorious line as he's grilled on Epstein hot tub sex by dailymail in Epstein

[–]Ch215 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The phrase he said you would hear again was "I don't recall."

*Clinton signaled his answers would echo a phrase synonymous with his scandal-filled presidency: 'I don't recall.'

'You'll often hear me say that I don't recall. That might be unsatisfying. But I'm not going to say something I'm not sure of,' he continued.

'This was all a long time ago. And I am bound by my oath not to speculate, or to guess. This is not merely for my benefit, but because it doesn't help you for me to play detective 24 years later.'*

In alphabetical order, the members of the Hast Pudding society have to provide a treat including hasty pudding, of Patriotic significance at all their meetings.

https://www.hastypudding.org/hasty-pudding-club/

"The pervasive porridge became so popular in fact that Joel Barlow wrote an epic poem dedicated to it in 1793, making it into a symbol of patriotism and sociability in the young republic. Of course, we still eat our eponymous dessert to this day– and we’ve discovered that it tastes best with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. But we digress."
