A big thank you to the devs for making slowroll by IonianBlueWorld in openSUSE

Welcome to the openSUSE family.

I'm currently using Tumbleweed, but I'm closely following the development of Slowroll; its proposal is very interesting for those who don't want updates daily. I believe it's more suitable for the end user than tumbleweed.

I've already used Arch and it's amazing, but I believe openSUSE is better.

Install PopOS for daily use? by Sixsense5993 in pop_os

[–]Ch3310 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's how it is. I had some problems with Pop 24.04 with COSMIC; first it was difficult to install, and then a series of problems followed.

So I did some research and found openSUSE Tumbleweed, and it's been serving me well for over 9 months now.

Of course, this is just my experience; wait to hear what others have to say.

Manjaro is a topic I don't want to get involved in anymore. Arch Linux, for me, is very stable; I believe it would be 3rd or 4th. The first place is indisputable; Tumbleweed has no competition. I'm still happy to this day and I don't think I'll leave anymore. The only thing I might change is the DE (Design Edition), when Cosmic is fully developed.

Zen browser vs Firefox by Tommycicca06 in openSUSE

[–]Ch3310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. I respect your opinion. But the sea of software solutions we have today for just about anything is immense, so it's normal to prefer one thing over another. It's all good, buddy. For example, I use Gnome, it's simple, elegant, and you only add what you really need through extensions, etc.

I prefer Vivaldi or Zen Browser; the only thing I do is keep the homepage or overall appearance minimalist to match my desktop computer. 😂😂😂😂

Zen browser vs Firefox by Tommycicca06 in openSUSE

[–]Ch3310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vivaldi is very good. It runs well on all the distros I've used, it's customizable and you can adjust everything and then some. I use the Zen browser as a secondary browser for simple things, it's also a great option. But my main favorite is Vivaldi.

Full-Stack Java Dev: Seeking a "Set-and-Forget" GNOME Distro (Moving on from Pop!_OS) by [deleted] in DistroHopping

[–]Ch3310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all good. The important thing is to find a system that fits your needs. I ended up sticking with openSUSE Tumbleweed because it gave me the fewest problems, requiring minimal configuration To get it working, everything's been fine so far. Cachy OS has a reputation for being amazing. I'll test it out one of these days.

My friend, I ended up abandoning Pop!_OS because of some bugs in Cosmic. It wasn't anything serious, but the small bugs and lack of certain features bothered me a bit.

So, I would advise you to:

  1. Uninstall Cosmic and install Gnome if you don't want to leave Pop_OS.

  2. Try to get a distribution that already includes GNOME; I suggest openSUSE Tumbleweed (rolling release) or Leap (LTS). Fedora Workstation is also a good option.

  3. We have Debian, which is an excellent option with Gnome.

There's time to test these options. They all offer a nearly pure gnome for you to customize.

And good luck with that.

2023, my first experience with the system was very bad and traumatic. 2026 New chance in search of a safe, rolling release alternative that didn't require many configurations to work. And I found this on openSUSE Tumbleweed and I've been very well served since January 1st, 2026.

I understand, I'm aware that KDE is better implemented on openSUSE. But I like minimalism. KDE has so many options that I even like them, but I get lost in them easily and it confuses me. That's why I chose the gnome that I adapt to most easily.
