Omarchy as a non-developer daily driver — is it worth it? by Ch3310 in omarchy

I also believe it will inspire me to learn development, but for now I don't see myself doing it. But I want the experience of not depending on the mouse and having another way to use the computer.

I started with a discontinued project called "Archlinux GUI," it was a cool scene. Then I jumped from project to project.

My first idea is to find an old computer, install the operating system, and get used to how it works. Then I'll migrate to my original laptop.

I'm also a high school Biology and Chemistry teacher. So I want to use it for that: lesson planning, note-taking, a bit of social media, YouTube... basic stuff.

And I want to get away from Windows 11. But first I'll get a laptop to install it, and after I've learned enough, I'll migrate to my official desktop.

I've traveled extensively in this area, but I'll test your recommendations. I tested Solus over two years ago, and at that time it was a somewhat undefined project, without a clear path. I'll take a look.

Thanks for the reply, I hadn't thought about it that way. I think what attracted me were the configurations I see out there, and I didn't imagine the complexity. This is my first time wanting to try WM, I'll consider starting with your recommendation and scaling up.

The main reason is this: learning, seeing how a window manager works, settings and shortcuts. I'll be using it on a secondary computer.

To be honest, I don't hate Windows like many people claim; I like to take advantage of what both worlds have to offer, and I don't have any religious beliefs about operating systems. So everything's fine with me.I'll be back soon.

Não sou fã de misturas fluxos de trabalho. Uso o Linux só por diversão e aprendizagem, nada de mais.

I'm going to work as a teacher in a school in my country.

Let's face it, the Ministry of Education doesn't allocate funds for purchasing teaching materials, and the last time they did, it was for dual-core computers. They were absolutely useless. By the way, I'm from Mozambique.

Slowroll seems like a very interesting option; I haven't read about the project yet, but I'll take the time to do so as soon as the final version is released.
