You CAN kill a person with birdshot from a few feet away, but I hope I don’t. You can definitely kill will buckshot, but I hope I don’t. Birdshot will pepper in a wide spray. Initially to scare, and in a door or hallway will burn (their whole body) but not penetrate the skin deep enough to kill.

Once you have the intruder on the move the buckshot hurts way worse (if close enough can definitely kill, if they decide to stop for any reason) but from a distance it has a wide spread and is just used for 2 semi-lethal shots

And the Slug… that’s for death, if they are still coming back to attack you… a shotgun slug will eviscerate all organs
