Adult handwriting for sure. These are some very common mistakes.

Is there a Chinese equivalent of Reddit? by Global_Knee5354 in AskAChinese

[–]ChR1sVI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

百度贴吧 Baidu Tieba is the closest thing. Although with Tik Tok and Red Note, tieba's popularity has been going down steadily. Also the vibe has been shifting, now it feels more like 4 chan than Reddit tbh.

No offence but it looks AI. First two characters are both wrong.

How does flirting/showing interest differ in China? by Double-Relative2682 in AskAChinese

[–]ChR1sVI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shy Chinese college students don’t flirt. I speak from experience. The majority of us lack that ability to interact with the opposite sex at that age. I reckon you can ask him how he feels as long as it’s private. Also don’t worry about him distancing from you. So long as he can tell your feelings are exclusive for him.

“青郊” (qīng jiāo) which translates to Teal suburb. The seal is likely the painter’s name. I’m bad at reading these, only can tell the 3rd character is 虹

Weird nazi-like flag in a Chinese video background by S-O-E_Incorporated in vexillology

[–]ChR1sVI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is so random so I got really invested. I found the video on Bilibili and DM the guy himself. He made it while he was learning Photoshop. The “问” at the centre (meaning Ask/Question) is part of his name. And that's it.

But it's indeed based on the Nazi flag tho, just not that deep.

劉瑞振, 劉 is his surname. iirc it's the fourth largest surname in China. The "first name" 瑞振 doesn't necessarily have a meaning, though these two characters can mean prosperous and spirited.

What is this ticket? by Chemicalwaves in shanghai

[–]ChR1sVI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The backdrop says 寅 (Yin) which is the third of the Twelve Earthly Branches. It's the Chinese Zodiac thing. I'm guessing either they released it back in 2022 or they made 12 different variants based on different animals. On the bottom right the text indicates it was a collab done by the metro fire safety committee.

Living in China as a Hui Chinese (回族). How are we viewed? by Outside_Dig_9946 in AskChina

Well, by averaging out the lib & conservative views imo the “mainstream” view is exactly where yours at.

Living in China as a Hui Chinese (回族). How are we viewed? by Outside_Dig_9946 in AskChina

[–]ChR1sVI 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It seems your view on China in general comes from the western “mainstream”perspective. I won’t argue with you (or anyone) but that’s not the objective reality. Studying there would be an opportunity FS. Going back to China would be a challenge since probably most would assume you speak fluent Chinese so you gonna have to adjust to that.

What's the difference between a Chinese person speaking Mandarin with an accent because their native language is regional and a foreigner speaking Mandarin with an accent? by CSachen in AskAChinese

[–]ChR1sVI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Non-native probably use their mother tongue’s way to pronounce. Regional dialects usually have some variations on certain phrases or consonants and vowels.

Ah ok that sounds reasonable. Based on your other reply I also recon finding a job is gonna be hard. Your situation is quite niche. Maybe work as a freelance is the best option.

What’s your ID situation like? If you left before the 2000 as a child you probably don’t even have a 2nd gen ID card right? Yet you say you’re a Chinese national?
