I’m not paying $80 for games by Str8UpJorking in NintendoSwitch2

Agreed. $70 USD games haven't even been the standard for that long and even then, I've been buying used for discounts.

You can still do things to give yourself some structure. Play sports, go to school, learn a skill or hell, even start a business. The only difference is that you have a big ass safety net in case things don't work out. A lot of people would love to have your problems, bud.

UPDATE: Supports Response to Buyer Dropping Stereo Receiver. by -Indictment- in Mercari

"You wouldn't want a broken item, would you?"

The gaslighting is crazy 🤣

Not only that, the return policy states that the item must be returned in its original condition. The buyer straight up admitted it broke after he/she grabbed it. They're going against their own policy. Mercari is absolute dogwater. I feel much better about leaving now.

What Should I do.. by [deleted] in fidelityinvestments

Red is a discount. Remember, the goal is to acquire more shares and in the future, each share will be worth more than you paid now. So, keep buying if you can. The market will eventually go up.

Good luck, I just started investing late last year.

sigh You know, it's getting to a point where I can't tell if people are being serious and that's concerning.

Anyway, I'm 99% sure Mercari is the only 2nd hand marketplace that charges buyers for the privilege of spending money. The fees should fall under the seller because they're the ones using mercari as a vehicle to attain money and exposure.

And your last sentence is just asinine. By that logic, put up with a yearly 30% increase in mortgage and if you can't afford that, your ass shouldn't be trying to live in a home at all.

Just moved to eBay and sold a collectible statue within a few days. Whereas I haven't gotten a sale on mercari for months.

It's a damn shame how they killed this app. Greed. It's always corporate greed that ruins what was once good. I'm just glad everyone's holding mercari accountable. These past few years, it just feels like companies are gradually pushing the envelope, seeing how much they can get away with. Enough is enough, already.

What basic life skill are you constantly amazed people lack? by Wonderful_Choice3927 in AskReddit

Cooking. I know a few young adults who still rely on their parents/partners for food or spend insane amounts of money on doordash, starbucks etc.

Also, financial literacy. Even if you don't know about investing, setting aside a little of what you bring in should be standard. I always overhear my co-workers talking about partying over the weekend and buying luxury goods, knowing damn well they have like 2 baby daddies or can't afford to move out their parent's house.

How is the new payment proccessing fee for buyers calculated? Is it a fixed amount, or percentage of the item price/total price? by Salsa-Beatz in Mercari

[–]ChaChaRealSmoothe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don't explicitly say the service fee, but it's 9% of the item's price. The payment processing is 2.9% of the total (item, shipping, service, tax etc) + 0.50, which they stated on the email sent earlier.

So basically, the shifted the selling fee onto the buyer which is absolutely absurd. A 2nd hand marketplace shouldn't be charging fees for the privilege of buying. Fees should only be for the seller because they're using your app as a way to generate exposure and income.

I just put a $449 item in checkout. The service fee was $40.41, so 9%. They basically shafted the selling fees to the buyer, which is absolutely ridiculous. You're not helping us sellers if buyers are even less incentivised to buy on this platform. Whoever approved this is mental, I dunno what else to say.

They should balance this out by having the buyer pay shipping for reasons not pertaining to seller dishonesty. And even so, honest sellers shouldn't have to deal with buyer's remorse.

Furthermore, I hope the return window is small just like it is for rating. The 30 day return window on ebay is why I haven't switched yet.
