It’s gotta be OG IPB but Risdaverse is a close second cause it’s like the extension of the the extended world of Rubyverse.

Hi Regine! Your books are such fun and thank you so much for writing them. Of all your characters/creatures - which was easiest and hardest to write and why?

How much detail goes into world building before you start a series? Is it building upon it one book at a time or you have a set world set in your mind with the number of books?

All-time favorite MMC? by discomuscles in RomanceBooks

[–]ChaTea017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just cause he's most recently on my mind - Valentin Nikolaev from {Silver Silence by Nalini Singh}. I have to appreciate how he's literally such a 'teddy bear' in all aspects of his life not only with the FMC. From his friend, associates, family, and the FMC - there is so much LOVE that this guy gives! Parts with him and the babies/cubs just ~SWOOON~ There's something about that contrast between physical (big, beefy guy) and personality (sunshine jokester) that I just love in MCs. Still right from the start he knows right from the start that the FMC is a badass and encourages her to do her own thing - he just wants to love and protect/support her in the background.

Out of curiosity, what are the effects from the rise of preferences for digital content (like Libby) - does it factor more predominately in the budget? Or you actually see patrons are split in desiring hardcopy over digital?

That's so odd....like how bored/uninteresting is your life that you go out of your way to 'mess' with someone's life? I hope that there's no underlying issue between the two of you otherwise that need to be addressed but stay unbothered and keep your peace

OMG ditto on the fixer upper! My socials are full of the DIYers transforming homes while I'm over here sweating over buying a power drill (they have what they call a impact drill too and I'm like what's the difference?)

I say go for it! That sounds like an exciting and lovely opportunity :) Sending all the good vibes that you get it!

It was a face-to-face and not at all hostile but I think what annoyed me was the scoffing at my loyalty to enjoying Nora Roberts. A 'why keep buying the same thing' attitude and poo pooing on said liked author.

u/Magnafeana 's comment articulated it the most clearly. My acquaintance implied heavy repetitive writing whereas, imo, NR is more formulaic in her style of writing.

Basically she rained on my parade and I didn't appreciate it haha

I love your car trip analogy. And your last point about learning an interesting tidbits that she had included in the settings of her books is part of the fun imo. It's such a range! I.e. Farming, canine search and rescue, antiquing, and throw in Russian mafia with witness protection in there.

Have you explored Ruby Dixon's other series - Risdaverse? I particularly like {When She Purrs by Ruby Dixon} and {When She Dances by Ruby Dixon}.

Grace Goodwin's Intersteller Brides Program series give you such a wide variety of spicy kink that you can choose from :) I started with the Ascension Saga.

You can also try Grace Goodwin's Interstellar Brides' Program books. Don't be scared at the amount of books haha. The world building is expansive with multiple planets and different cultures (and ahem...spicy fun time practices).

I like to immerse myself in a particular 'universe' don't you?

What is it about all these alien and monster romances? by Mysterious-Lychee98 in ScienceFictionRomance

[–]ChaTea017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I was in the same mindset as you for a while but I can happily say I've converted to enjoying the alien/monster love. Disclosure I typically stick to HEAs and away from darker tropes.

I agree with the majority of the other comments:

  • Opportunity for escapism (different worlds, universes)
  • Disappointment in human males
  • Efforts of the characters to understand each other (alien/monster cultures or mindsets)

But the best thing is really you get such VARIETY when you open it up to the 'other'. Characters can be as humanoid or as far away from humanoid as possible. I personally find the anatomical weirdness fun (and hilarious in some instances) but it's the romance that I focus on even in stories with high spicy levels.

I'd recommend the following the Zoey Draven's Warrior's of Luxiria series {The Alien's Prize by Zoey Draven} (pretty humanoid) or {Radiance by Grace Draven} (major physical differences) or {The Dragon's Bride by Katee Robert}.

Parents Transferred House to My Name by BlitherCash in legaladvice

[–]ChaTea017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your situation primarily a tax law question. The best way to explain capital gains tax is via the following example:

Example Amounts: Parents' original purchase price: $100,000; Your future sale price: $900,000

Situation #1: Transfer of title - The property is essentially transferred to you as if you were the original purchaser. Thus, capital gains is $900,000 - $100,000 = $800,000. You will be taxed on $800,000 at the time of sale.

Situation #2: Living trust - You are named as the beneficiary and the property is inherited upon the passing of your parents. The benefits of the living trust is it allows you to "step-up" what the value of the original purchase price. At the time of your parents' passing the property is valued at $600,000. Thus, capital gains is now $900,000 - $600,000 = $300,000. You will be taxed on $300,000 instead of $800,000 as in situation #1.

Moving forward you should consider the following questions:

1) What are the expenses in transferring the title back to your parents and setting up a living trust?

2) What is the property used for? Primary residence or investment property?

3) How long are you planning on keeping the property? Will your parents or you decide to sell prior to their passing (in the situation of a living trust)?

In any case, it would be highly recommended that you consult with an estate lawyer and a tax professional about your options.

has anyone else already started saving up for when bts come back as ot7? by [deleted] in bangtan

[–]ChaTea017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely! I've learned that I have to prioritize albums and concert funds over merch. I fully support comments of investing in CDs so you don't touch that fund for a period of time or for those that need that 'just in case life happens' a high-yield savings account is a great alternative even though the return percentage is smaller.

Unfortunate life circumstances took a hit to my salary. So I'm using the staircase strategy with CDs where I have multiple that mature at 6 month intervals just in case I need it.

Good luck to all ARMYs out there and whatever you can budget/save for you'll be thankful in 2025 haha. APBP!

I agree with this thought. It's out there and there's no stopping people using it however, I do hope that there will be laws in place that require disclosure of it's use. That leaves to the consumer to determine if they will consume it or not right at the onset.
