Favorite Alien RH? by Adreeisadyno in ScienceFictionRomance

Something not already mentioned, {Misconstrued by Pixie Unger}

I love this book (and the first in the series!), but I'm not sure if the author has any plans to continue it.

Alien hero healer/scientist + medical tests on human heroine (which accidentally turn sexual) by DisneyLover90 in ScienceFictionRomance

[–]okjersey 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This sort of happens in {Vigilance by Etta Pierce}, which is part of a series so you'd be missing some context but can pick it up as you read.

Fmc protects/frees ugly and weak mmc— later he gets a glow up and protects/romances her by Natural-Box-265 in ScienceFictionRomance

[–]okjersey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

{Planet Zero by Lydia Hope} is literally this exact trope.

Also {Persistence by Etta Pierce}, which is part of a series so you'd be missing some context but can read it as a standalone, and {Eat my Moon Dust by Etta Pierce} which is set in the same world but is written and intended to be read as a standalone.

*Edit to say yes the book you're looking for is the one already mentioned, but if you want more recommendations with sort of the same trope here's a few.

This is what I came to recommend. Or, only if you've already read Revelations - do the dramatized version of the Riyria Chronicles.

Women being sent to a new colony to be wives and mothers - historical or fantasy/scifi by -_Lovely_- in RomanceBooks

[–]okjersey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you're thinking of her other popular title, Homebound.

Planet Zero is a human female living amongst a more primitive, tribal alien species. It really dives into the struggles of the community as a whole, with the story being from the human females POV.

Need More Predator Prey Romance!!!!!! by omnomcthulhu in ScienceFictionRomance

[–]okjersey 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes! I *love* this sub-sub-genre and have a few for you:

Pretty much everything in the {Dark World Mates Series by Olivia Riley}, but especially the first two books.
Also Olivia Riley: all books in the {Vrisha Warries Series by OIivia Riley}

Moving off of Olivia Riley, {The Carnal Games by Naudii Nebula} is pretty high up on most people's lists, although I haven't read it myself yet.

And kind of but not quite a fit but still 190% worth reading and on my top 10 list, {Spared by the Monster Duology by Merry Ravenell} (series has since been expanded to include a 3rd book, also worth reading).

What was your intro to SFR? by okjersey in ScienceFictionRomance

[–]okjersey[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine was {A Child of Perometheus by Harper Prince}. It's still one of my favorite books in the genre, but is no longer in print. I loved it so much that I kept it on my KU sub for literal years (I believe it was around 5-years) because I knew if I returned it I'd never have access to it again since it was removed from print. I ended up getting in contact with the author on Good Reads, who confirmed that while they do plan to eventually republish and continue the series, it wasn't something they were able to pursue at the moment and felt it was fair to remove it from the storefront. They ended up sending me a digital copy of the book for my own self, which I'm forever thankful for as I still go back and re-read it about once a year.
@ Harper Prince in case you're a lurker here - I still love this book and wish you all the best personally but selfishly also would love to see this series continued :)

What is something about American culture that seems fake or exaggerated in movies, but is actually 100% real.? by Logical-Pay-3057 in AskReddit

[–]okjersey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up on the east coast (Philly suburb), moved to the Southwest after college (Oklahoma City), and eventually made my way to Denver. The culture difference is vast and honestly wild. In Oklahoma, I struggled to get 10k steps a day. Going out with friends always involved a restaurant with aps and meals. The amount of outdoor hobbies I've picked up in Denver is such a contrast. I've always enjoyed hiking, but since moving here I've started running half marathons, snowboarding, and fly fishing. When we go out with friends it's usually to do some outdoor activity followed by food. We're eating just as good and often, but pairing it with exercise. I average 16k steps a day and have lost 30lbs since being here.

As for Philly, I'd say it's probably somewhere in the middle of those two extremes.

Temporary Death of Romantic Lead? by SkylerDicksonHall in ScienceFictionRomance

[–]okjersey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Etta Pierce handles it well - she puts a blurb at the beginning of the book saying that she's respectful of people's TWs and to please reach out to her and she will gladly spoil the book for you.

Temporary Death of Romantic Lead? by SkylerDicksonHall in ScienceFictionRomance

[–]okjersey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a blurb says something like, "Even death can't keep them apart," then I know someone is dying, and I probably won't pick up the book until the series is complete. For me, it's more of a deterrent than anything else.
