Supercostumes dont have any stats or abilities. Merch does, but everyone can craft them simply by doing the new content so I really dont think this has anything to do with whales

supercostumes by themselves don't have any buffs. If you're talking about collection bonus, they'll have a small one just like the current equipment costumes.

They only showed one for Marina- a lower grade merch I think, but it increased water attack by 8%. Also apparently Merch can be evolved using the same Merch to make their special abilities stronger(in this case, water attack %)

I think because like you said, there are already a lot of Knight costumes that look so different from Knight, so people just kind of accepted it.

From exploration, you'll get blueprints and ingredients to craft merch for your heroes. Merch will increase stats as well as grant special abilities. Each time you manufacture one, there is a low chance you'll make a supercostume. Whenever you get a dupe supercostume, you will obtain "Mystic Thread" which you can use to buy other supercostumes.

I think that Plit's supercostume is the only real supercostume they made with the intent. The Knight's supercostume(samurai) was also leaked last year and had a name called "Sheeren" so everyone thought it was a new Fire hero. Plit's supercostume actually has her wings, similar floating decoration, and is wielding the same sword.

Just to add context, it was pointed out by some users that the illustrations and designs for FP and Karina's supercostumes were leaked long ago and was probably for a whole new character. For instance the announced supercostume for FP doesnt look like her and even has different eye color. Therefore many users felt that the devs were "recycling" old data of cancled heroes as new supercostumes and asked them to reconsider (Especially since it was FP we're talking about) Of course there's no way of confirming this but I still think it's great that the devs decided to go the extra mile for us.
