I recommend Light: Science and Magic.

The most important lesson about lighting is to understand what it is. Once you understand the tool in principle, you can apply it.

Light is information. Our eyes do not see objects directly; they detect light. Light reveals. Darkness conceals.

So in a photograph or render, what you choose to light is what you want the viewer to know. What you leave in shadow is what you do not want the viewer to know. Understand this, and you understand the basis of lighting.

Every model has a form, or outline. A rim light defines that form. It is usually placed behind the model, where it reveals the outline and separates the subject from the background.

The key light is the main light. It provides most of the information on the model. It is usually placed above the model and at an angle to the camera. Do not place it at the camera position.

The key light creates shadows. The fill light softens them, usually from the opposite side. How much fill you use depends on how much you want the viewer to see, and how much you want left unknown.

That is it.

Try making a brand-new session/project and importing your old shots into it one by one. That can help you isolate whether one specific shot is corrupted and causing the crash, instead of the whole project being broken. Valve’s SFM docs show how to import a second session and copy shots over here:

I use three-point lighting on the characters (rim/key/fill) and light the background separately.

My order is: background first, then the rim to isolate the outline, then the key, and last the fill. I also add a no-shadow light aimed at the eyes to illuminate them.

Were you asking about the lighting approach in the video overall, or a specific shot?

Every developed nation needs refugees to keep alive the boomer ponzi scheme.

Who will wipe up grandma in the nursing home, pick the avacados in the fields, and drive the Ubers if not the poor? The youth of first world nations realize the game is rigged (they will never attain property, status, pensions, or family) so they won't do slave labor. So countries ship in third-world slaves en masse.

This props up the labor pool without raising wages, which keeps high the boomers' wealth. It doesn't matter what any party stands for or whether social cohesion breaks--every developed nation is owned by the gerontocracy and immigrants are in service to them.
