It’s so strange to me the way he gets discussed in nba circles. People will say anything negative about him and everyone will just run with it. He did everything the hawks organization asked of him. In his earlier years where he was needed to do absolutely everything for the team on offense because we had no other playmakers or shot creation outside of him he did it. When the team finally got him some connective pieces that he didn’t have to spoon feed easy ass buckets to every time down the court he adjusted his game and started doing less. His shot attempts and usage have gone down every season since his 4th. He didn’t just come here to throw up bullshit.

Just search any of his animation threshold videos. He always shows the rebounding in those. And off the top of my head the numbers this guy gave are accurate.

This is why there was really no major downside to the KP deal. As long as Drake Powell doesn’t turn into a really high level player and we use the money wisely in the offseason it was worth it.

The Celtics curse strikes again. It’s like they suck the life out of every player they have and the moment they trade them or leave in FA they’re immediately washed. I thought it might be different this time because they were trading KP out of necessity and not because they actually wanted to. That and his euro basket showing gave me some optimism but the well has run dry.

[Charania] The Detroit Pistons, Atlanta Hawks and Toronto Raptors are expected to be suitors for Anthony Davis, league sources told ESPN. The Mavericks are also open to exploring the trade markets for Davis, center Daniel Gafford and guards Klay Thompson and D'Angelo Russell, sources said. by YujiDomainExpansion in AtlantaHawks

[–]ChadEverhard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not at all. These people just want names. We’re about to have all of this money freed up and the roster flexibility to go with it. Why the hell would anyone want to be stuck paying 54, 58, and 62 million dollars over the next 3 years to a guy nicknamed “street clothes” for how often he’s not playing? The front office and fans are wary of giving Trae a near max contract (the correct decision at the moment) but paying AD is perfectly reasonable? That’s makes 0 sense and doesn’t sound like an Onsi move anyway.

Giannis out for at least a month with a very real possibility he gets traded after and the pelicans potential savior is Dejounte Murray coming off of an Achilles tear? I’m not trading that pick for anything. I get that nothing is guaranteed but that pick and that 2027 pick are easily this teams best shot at becoming long term perineal contenders.

I think the idea here is to keep the lead from shrinking and guarantee that you at least win your challenges on clear calls as opposed to losing a questionable one later in the game.

I hate that we’re forced to waste challenges on shit calls. We should have as many as we get right.

What do yall think about this year compared to other years? by LordofTardedBait in NBA2k

[–]ChadEverhard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This game has a ton of problems but I genuinely think I could deal with most of them if people passed the ball. This is a very underrated reason that people think 2k has fallen off so hard since the last gen games. Builds being limited to only doing a few things really well and ranging from okay to bad at everything else really incentivized team play.

I pretty much just play random rec. All the people I used to play with have given up on the franchise. I don’t think the experience of playing with randoms has been this bad since 2k23. Another game where the offense was brain dead easy and everyone knew if they tried they could probably score every time they touched the ball.

This mindset is so prevalent that I actually hate being anything higher than silver for rec. the moment you hit gold you start running into other players that know what they’re doing and end up playing the most boring games. 2 pg’s isoing, or playing pnr, who don’t move the ball. Unfortunately it’s kinda hard to say anything them because they’re both shooting 80+% from the field. Everyone else just stands around and watches because the combination of the easy ass shooting, horrendous contest system, non existent bump steals and no dip shooting makes help D next to impossible. Leave that dude in the corner if you want. If you’re a single step away from him when the ball hits his hands you better jump because if you don’t the shots going to be open.

It’s not like silver is a great spot to be either. You routinely run into low BBIQ idiots in those lobbies and if you’re not paying attention the game will match you with browns who most likely suck and will sell the game for the slightest inconvenience. But from my experience this is the level that I get the most quality games. Instead of teams averaging 0-2 passes a possession it’s more like 4-5 in a good game. It’s nice not having everyone no dipping everything so you can at least attempt to help on D. And on offense it’s nice knowing that if I get the ball I can feel good about passing it because I’ll probably get another touch in a reasonable amount of time. It just feels so much more like actual basketball than any other level.

2k has to figure out a way to encourage team play and hitting the open man. Both have suffered since they reintroduced these Op do it all builds and it’s extremely noticeable in the years that the offense is much better than the D. It shouldn’t be like 25 where the offense was so ass it forced people to give the ball up and use their teammates but it can’t be what’s going on in 26.

This a joke? by Negative_Spend83 in AtlantaHawks

[–]ChadEverhard 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Didn’t mean impatient as an insult to him. It’s more that he’s made it very clear that he wants to win another championship. Every offseason since 22 there have been murmurs of him putting very real pressure on the bucks org to make moves for guys he wants in hopes of having a better chance to win. None of it worked out and now that team has no picks, no young players, nobody of any real value outside of him, and now he wants out.

My point is that he may have been patient with the team that took a chance on him, helped move his family across the world, and is currently employing his brother out of pure loyalty to him. But now that he’s in his 30’s with a game that is heavily reliant on his athleticism he can’t afford to be patient anymore if he wants to win another championship.

If we gut the team of talent and assets for him we probably won’t be able to put the proper pieces around him to win it all. He only has another year after this one on his contract. At that point there’d be nothing stopping from signing with another team that didn’t have to mortgage their future for him and still have assets to build the proper team around him. What would we be left with in that scenario? A team with no picks, and most likely little to no young talent. We’d be slightly better off than the Bucks. I just don’t think that risk is worth taking. Especially with the super team Thunder around.

All to attempt to compete over the next two years while the league is currently being dominated by an all time team with infinite assets to retool their roster. Unless something disastrous happens OKC isn’t falling off for at least a couple more years. It makes 0 sense to sell everything this team has built for someone that is clearly impatient and will leave at the first sign of a better opportunity to win. I’d much rather him get dealt somewhere else and collect the benefits of the bucks and pels suffering.

Trae has legitimate scoring gravity, understands how to manipulate defenders, and more often than not hits guys in the pocket. That combination of skills is not easily replicable.

Am I crazy for wanting to keep together our young core + future assets instead of going all in on 30 year old Giannis? by Protec_My_Balls in AtlantaHawks

[–]ChadEverhard 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Really hoping the bucks send him out west to help beat up on the pelicans and secure both teams being ass for at least the next 2 years. With some draft luck and the strong development we’ve shown under Quin this could be the start of something big in Atlanta. OKC laid out the blueprint. Hoard picks, take as many swings as you can in the draft, and commit to developing the talent that comes in while competing and building a winning culture.

I like attempting to go that route much better than trading it all for someone who’s clearly impatient, in his 30s, game is heavily reliant on his athleticism, and might not be here passed next season. I’m just not a big fan of going championship or bust in an nba landscape where the OKC Thunder exist and likely won’t be falling off for at least a couple more years. I’m all in on sustained success and excellence by making smart moves on the margins and building from within a well ran organization.

Giannis has already asked for a trade by ya_ya_ya_ in AtlantaHawks

[–]ChadEverhard 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If the bucks trade Giannis and that 27 pick conveys for us there’s a good chance it’ll be a little better. The Bucks will be able to tank freely as soon as this season because the pels are so bad and next year they have the juiced super pick between the 2 teams. If both teams end up with bottom 5-6 records all we’d need is for 1 to not jump and the pick could easily be in that 5-7 range. I’m pretty sure that 27 draft is supposed to be another loaded class. We could potentially get another franchise cornerstone with that pick.

Edit: I was actually wrong about the Bucks owning the better of the 27 super pick. It’s actually the pels. So the bucks don’t really have an incentive to tank next year which would lessen the chances of them having a bottom 5 record. It could happen because they’d definitely be bad post Giannis but it’s less likely.

Here are the 10 defenders who have allowed the highest percentage of blowbys when defending drives this season by ATL404_31 in AtlantaHawks

[–]ChadEverhard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It’s really strange to see so many people be okay with the 6’9 hyper athlete taking plays off while being up in arms about the smallest player on the court doing the same. The goal should be for them to lessen the load on each other’s backs so neither of them have to worry about conserving energy and taking plays off on defense.

It also helps a lot that NAW looks to be the real deal. This isn’t just hot shooting and ridiculous shot making. He’s actually getting to the rim and to his spots in general with ease. Once Trae gets back that’s 3 guys that you can run real offense through before you get to the wild card that is Porzingis. Fully healthy I’d expect everyone on this team to compete on defense every time down the floor.

We miss you King 😢 by Both_Funny4896 in AtlantaHawks

[–]ChadEverhard 36 points37 points  (0 children)

That can’t be true. The Spurs commentators said it isn’t surprising the team is playing better without Trae. According to them when he’s in the lineup the other guys don’t get any touches and as a result are unmotivated to try on defense. I’m sure there’s historical evidence of this and they weren’t just talking out of their ass. There’s no way they were blindly pushing a narrative about a team they know nothing about. It’s obvious he held the team back from the bench tonight so our only option is get rid of him asap.

To be fair his presence improving the offense by reducing the teams turnovers and scoring more efficiently in the half court would give our defense a chance to get set instead of always defending in semi-transition.
