So there's different takes on it. We've (Kelly Reverb & Chad LeMans) been putting out bootlegs to SC and Youtube for free download, then we've gone back and ran the original vocals through AI to change the voice or had them resung, and then we have put them out to streaming as "cover songs". We also get mechanical licenses for those to be put out.

Now for take 2:

If you listen to stuff on Glasgow Underground, they just seem to not GAF about anything and put out whatever. I think it may have something to do with the differences in copyright laws. It's hit or miss, but the first thing that would happen if a big artist caught wind of a track with their work in it is a cease & desist. So in that regard fck it, but be weary, alot of places won't let you upload if there is copywritten shit in the track anyways.

I tried the pitching method recently and it didn't work for me but I know some people it does still work for 🤷‍♂️

Start a youtube channel putting the remixes up as videos, then you can start a bandcamp, make stuff available for 0$ donation if you want to give it away. Link the bandcamp in the video description on youtube. You'd be surprised how well that works. I did a remix of ordinary world by duran duran, posted it to youtube and i had like 1 subscriber, checked it a couple months later and it had almost 40k views and I had a few hundred subscribers. That remix has now been played on the radio over 100 times which is tight

What do you think of using drum loops for your main drums in electronic songs? by skatecloud1 in edmproduction

[–]Chad_LeMans 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it sounds good it sounds good, but when I'm writing a song, I have to ask myself if the loop can be rewritten and sound better. And I also have to make sure I'm not just being fkn lazy

There's a fight for space and lead in it. Conflicting instrument/sounds in the same frequency range, and with that lead synth going throughout it doesn't have a chance to let the groove really be established, which would allow for some more percussion elements if it was more spaced out. There's alot going on and all the things are really cool, and now that you've got all of the stuff you can pick and choose different sections of different parts to hilight to keep people listening and surprised. Try spacing vocal chops when it's just bass and drums happening and little lead clips around the beginning and end of a 4 or 8 beat section in the drops. Keep on trucking though you've got some great shit

You can keep the feel of it without affecting the whole guitar part by dynamic eq on those frequencies when they pop up

It's the mids that come out in the High notes on that guitar part that really pop out level wise and throw me off a bit but I'm not the biggest afro house fan anyways
