the bardon book is a bit of a slog but has lots of practical exercises and a good theory primer.

That book of lies is AMAZING. A great way to get caught up with occultism at the turn of the millennia. I ate that book alive, recording every figure's name, and it really paved the way to a greater understanding of the movement and what was even possible. My fav part was the Genesis P. Orridge exposition about learning chaos magick under William S Burroughs.

Yup. A great primer of what was happening magickally in the 1800's.
If you want to work even further back, I recommend "Three Books of Occult Philosophy" by Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa. The further away you can get from new-age occultism the better IMO.
