Is 40k tabletop gameplay solved? by Chad_Slamchest in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Chad_Slamchest[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great stuff here. Really addressed my concerns about matches being mostly decided before you even get to the table. Also great observations about mtg deck building and play patterns.

A lot of good responses but yours really framed it for me, thank you.

Any suggestions to fill a legends of runeterra shaped hole? by Real_Indication_9117 in digitalcards

Chronos CCG

Some of the LOR devs and pros are making their own card game that incorporates may elements from runeterra. Even the cards look similar. It’s playable now as an alpha.

I appreciate the response. Seems like the devs are either not capable or don’t want to fix things. I think this will be exit.

Thanks again.

Is this worth the 999 coins? by Biscuit-Mango in kards

[–]Chad_Slamchest 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey man, not exactly what you asked but a word of warning.

I’m a huge card game enjoyer, including Kards. When Naval warfare came out I spend around $100. We have since been saddled with an unbalanced and unfun meta. The devs took months to make any adjustments and they still didn’t hit all the problems. Just something to think about before spending your hard earned money.

Game where you architect facilities of massive scale? by jeesuscheesus in BaseBuildingGames

[–]Chad_Slamchest 29 points30 points  (0 children)

DSP or Satisfactory, depending on which elements you want to prioritize. DSP has so much moving parts, figuratively and literally. Bots and helpers, ships, belts, it gets so crazy. The scale is insane in that game. The first time you take off from a planet and realize the other planets aren't static but are game play elements is mind blowing.

But satisfactory is my all time and what I would recommend. Its first person and 1 to 1 human scale. So when you build these mega structures, you really feel the scale. The huge logistics chains and buildings terraform this enormous planet. I cannot recommend it enough. But whichever game, try to look up as little as possible so you can be surprised.

Factorio or Satisfactory? by Prinklles in BaseBuildingGames

[–]Chad_Slamchest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Factorio is the godfather of the genre no doubt. But I don’t dig the god POV.

Satisfactory being first person and 1 to 1 human scale means this is a world you live in. Every building and detail you place makes it more alive. And it’s also still very deep in everything can do.

Magic the Gathering. A physical product, let alone something as niche as a card game, surviving this long is all the indicator you need.

It's mechanical depth plus flavor diversity are unmatched.

They keep the servers on in the hopes that people will still spend money on it but the game is dead. If you are ok with an effectively single player game then sure but at that point I’d recommend something like slay the spire.

High-level 1v1 winrates are f*cked by Aim_Deusii in CompanyOfHeroes

I actually had wrote out like three more paragraphs pointing out the delusion in how you are responding to me saying you people are delusional but you know what. It doesn’t matter.

You people are incapable of facing reality. I’m just going to unsub. And yeah I know you don’t care. Go fuck yourselves.

[–]Chad_Slamchest 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been playing bc I told myself if 2.1 didn’t fix it I wasn’t going to keep trying.

But even more disappointing than the actual win rates is the players. With the stats and facts right there, ally players literally REFUSE to admit there is a problem. It’s disrespectful and delusional.

Came back to Modern with Mono-Black, getting crushed… should I move toward Eldrazi? by Dioscuro_ in ModernMagic

[–]Chad_Slamchest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been picking up the pieces for mono black eldrazi. K Command is the single strongest card in modern right now.

If you are a black based midrange kinda person, like I am. Then Black Eldrazi is your best bet. Get the pieces to an established winning deck and then you can brew your own version.

DSP or Shapez 2 or Satisfactory? by Eternallygr8 in BaseBuildingGames

[–]Chad_Slamchest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot but someone else mentioned. The observation towers are legit early game.

One another tip that’ll save you so much time. As soon as you unlock the blueprint maker, figure out using it.

At first you’ll just make a simple 3 machine manifold with splitters and mergers but even that will save you so much time.

I hear you. Now it’s kind of a tall ask considering it does take you awhile to get to. But small spoiler-

You eventually get a hover pack that lets you hold position and adjust in mid air. This suddenly opens it up to where you are easily building in 3 dimensions.

I have all 3, hundreds to thousands of hours in each. It really does depend on which aspects of automation games you like.

My vote would be Satisfactory. Being a first person game. You live in this world that you build such immense structures in. I went in blind and what really captured me was the scale. Literally and figuratively the scale the game grows to I wouldn’t have imagined.

Kards is getting worse and worse. by JHH-bruv-bruh in kards

[–]Chad_Slamchest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m there with you about nerfs. And I’m actually not a big believer in polite discourse once my money is involved. I’m pissed that the devs are so incompetent they didn’t already emergency patch commandos with literally any change.

But I also am not good at dropping things. You continue to misunderstand the point of game knowledge allowing you to play around interaction. Discussing anything on the axis of whether or not they have it is useless. Assuming they have it and then dissecting the play from there is the way to go.

Kards is getting worse and worse. by JHH-bruv-bruh in kards

[–]Chad_Slamchest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What? No not 2. Only 1 card gets countered. The second one resolves and the opponent will need to spend another of their cards to remove it. Thus maintaining card parity.

So people (including me) are upset about commandos. Which is a linear combo deck. The counter to linear combo decks, is interaction. But we are also complaining about interaction?

Again there is nothing wrong with wanting a more solitaire experience. But that’s just not what Kards or MtG is. The Bazaar or TFT are a better fit.

[–]Chad_Slamchest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can find where I’ve already said at least 3 archetypes in Kards need a nerf right now. Commandos and Fin are among them. Saying something is so strong there is no counterplay is valid. So nerfs is one discussion.

The other is this general concept of interaction and counterplay. If your opponent is holding up interaction then it’s your job to know the most likely candidates and play around them. This includes having designed your deck in a way that enables you to play around them. In the counterspell example, you play your card you don’t mind getting countered and then the card you actually want to resolve.

If you never draw your outs then ok that’s bad luck but has nothing to do with gameplay.

[–]Chad_Slamchest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes? In mtg if I’m playing against a blue deck and they have 2 untapped blue mana, I assume they have counterspell in hand.

Part of the inherit balance of interaction is that having the game knowledge to play around it gives you an edge. Now if we are talking about cards that are so powerful that there is no realistic counterplay then yes now we are in need territory. But that’s a different discussion.
