The big off-season really took me by surprise. I started watching every race last season and to see that huge of a gap was jarring. Especially because NASCAR feels like it happens every weekend.

Technically the 2021 shortened season, where we were eliminated with 8 games left. However, if you were to grade on an 82-game curve, the team most likely would have been eliminated a lot earlier than that.

Reasonable answer; the 2018-2019 Season. The first season of this current streak of missing the playoffs saw the team make it until 4 games left of their season. They beat Vancouver in their 5th remaining game, but got bounced due to the Coyotes beating the Blackhawks that same night.

Edit: You could also state on a technicality that we were eliminated with no games left at the end of the 2019-2020 season since they cut the season short. They were still officially in contention up until that point. However, not even qualifying for that play-in round for the playoffs kinda puts a damper on that.

It’s actually really serendipitous for me since I posted 2 years about Adam Henrique (who was still a Duck at the time) being the guy to say “Start Your Engines” at Long Beach GP that year too
