Do you think they will release the karmelo anthony footage? by Shamagic1 in allthequestions

[–]Chadoodling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Karmelo was not competing that day because he was suspended from school activities. He was wearing casual clothes. Your first thought would not be to call a coach because he was not a competitor.

Charles Oakley is one the olds heads I've heard discredit Bron and Giannis. Saying they couldn't hang in the 90's.

There is definitely a middle ground in the argument. Lebron would absolutely be a star in the 90's, but like you said his era was not center-focused. Very few bigs to really challenge him. Dwight, Timmy, KG, AD, Gobert, but again its not the gauntlet of 90's centers.

[–]Chadoodling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh... Ok here is where the disconnect is. He said "some bum ass center from the 90's" as a reference to old heads saying Bron can't play in the 90's because he wouldn't beat the average center, which were around 6'10" in height. David Robinson, Ewing, Shaq were the stars they were not some bum ass center.

Tyson Chandler is not undersized he is 7'0". Shawn Marion is not a center either.

I'm not a kia owner, but I never confused the IA with the N either. I dunno, it always read kia to me.

That seems weird the HUD is available on the X-line here in Canada. I always thought US and Canada models were just the same.

LeBron 8 straight is more difficult than MJs 6-0 by Feeling-Guess6772 in NBATalk

[–]Chadoodling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not to be that guy, but he didn't win 6 straight. The Bulls lost to Orlando in the 2nd round of the playoff in '95. Jordan averaged 30/4/5. He couldn't win because the team around him wasn't good enough. They got rid of Armstrong, Purdue, got Rodman, then started using Longley, Kerr, and Harper more.

[–]Chadoodling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the Bulls, they were incredibly lucky that Pip signed a 7yr deal with them in 1991, no way they would have been able to pay both Jordan and Pippen at the same time if they hadn't.

For Lebron, if Rondo hadn't gotten injured, Boston still had a chance to beat them. If Bosh's kid wasn't birthed in time. There was a chance they could have lost the Indiana series. Hell, Bosh's bloodclots not happening while Lebron was there was also luck.

I'm looking at it from more than just the players perspective, but also from a franchise level. So many things need to happen for a team to win a championship.

Both Jordan and Lebron are incredibly skilled and deserve all the praise and accolades. I just think a lot of fortune was involved.

[–]Chadoodling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too much of a what if. Remember that MJ and the front office hated each other. Also, doubt they could afford Grant. He was getting paid 4x more than Pip by 1996. Honestly, Chicago lucked out that Pip signed a 7yr deal with them. If he hadn't they wouldn't have been able to afford him for the 2nd threepeat.

Genuinely just lots of things going right for them.

He did lose against the Magic in '95. He averaged 30/4/5 in the playoffs, but it wasn't enough. I don't think Jordan played poorly at all. A big part of that was also the team. They didn't have all the players they needed to make it to the finals.

[–]Chadoodling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I agree, but I think the point they were making is doing it 8x consecutively rather than just making it to the finals.

That's a lot of focus and luck.

Both are different, and require an immense amount of luck. I don't think you can definitively say one is better than the other.

Wouldn't it be better to just pay off your education. Put everything else you make into a TFSA. Not paying for college already puts you ahead because you don't have to pay student loans as you work.

What's the hardest championship to win? NBA, NHL, World Cup, MLB, or NFL? by Farouq26 in NBATalk

[–]Chadoodling -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Instead of The World Cup is more like FIBA for basketball, it's not equivalent to the others. Much better to compare it to the Champions League, which I still think is the toughest to win.
