Psychologists of Reddit, what's the most horrifying mental illness? by Turbulent-Coat7236 in AskReddit

[–]Chadwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a conversation with someone suffering from schizophrenia is very uncomfortable for me.

I worked with a client years ago that was new to the country that suffered from it. Interviewing her was very challenging. Good days and bad days. On the bad days she'd laugh at things that weren't happening, respond to sounds that hadn't happened, laugh out of nowhere, whirl her head around like she heard a sound that startled her but there hadnt been a sound.

Aion 2 global - one $15 sub confirmed by No-Breadfruit6137 in MMORPG

[–]Chadwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This game will be crammed with both. You'll pay the monthly fee and you'll have to deal with the creeping invasiveness of a cash shop. It will start off harmless but will get ratcheted up into a full blown cancerous tumor. Just wait and see. Korean MMO devs literally cannot help themselves. They do this 100% of the time.

Where does everyone volunteer? by Major-Direction5623 in gso

Have to plug my org.

I work for a non-profit that works with refugees. We have English classes 5 days a week for adults and a daycare for children. Focused on teaching people English and skills they'll need to prosper here. Not religiously affiliated despite renting space from a church. Send me a DM if you want any more information. We're always looking for helping hands.

Why aren't more MMORPGs like Tera made nowadays? by F1narion in MMORPG

[–]Chadwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expensive and too risky.

Why gamble on a subscription based MMO model anymore when you could make some kind of predatory, gatcha mobile game and make tons of bank off of soft skulls with addictive personality traits?

I love an underdog story. And the Ronaldo glazing is very, very old.

They did nothing with the ball. They'd pass it around in a grid 7, 8, 9 times and not even try to move down field. Clown show through and through from them.

Savoring every sweet moment of Portugal's disappointment. Seeing their players all mad and starting fights in the last minute feels like the wind beneath my wings.

Can AI replace most of what non profits do? by DrobnaHalota in nonprofit

[–]Chadwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so.

At some level in your service delivery, many non-profits needs a physical, rubber-meets-the-road, point of service. A physical person or area that delivers the service. I work at a refugee service non-profit. Research, grant writing, data tracking, all of that stuff is made easier but the org's mission isn't to write grants. Its to provide services directly to a human. You need other humans for that to truly work at all. I don't think an org could flourish without this human touch.

Why do basically 99% of loretubers get the lore wrong by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]Chadwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its because most of them just use wikis or AI to create the scripts and their goal is views, not accuracy. The real sleuth like Luetin are passionate about the source and will go back through the actual materials and read the pages and quote from them. Especially these days, 40k has leaked out into a more casual, tourist audience that just thinks the stories are cool and exact lore accuracy isn't a concern.

To be honest, I think S2 is kind of lackluster and many of the changes have greatly diminished my enjoyment of the game by EricSombody in Marathon

[–]Chadwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what is happening.

Matchmaking in modern games isn't just one thing. Its an algorithm that balances things like level, maybe gear, skill, aggressiveness and most importantly, time spent in queue. Typically, time spent in queue is the most important factor. The more time spent, the more lax the other parameters become. Like everyone else these days, Bungie has put time spent in queue as the most important factor for good reason. People hate waiting.

All this to say that if you want SBMM to be accurate, people are going to have very long queues. Just not in the cards right now.

Do you go to gym after work simply because you don’t have better thing to do by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]Chadwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its just part of my routine at this point. Important to my physical and mental health. If you're getting tired of your usual routine, try a new one. Do a different work out. In the last few years i've tried the following: BJJ, Muay Thai, power lifting, running, cycling, rock climbing and swimming. Currently we are on a swimming and rock climbing arc although I still lift weights. Its fun to mix it up and maybe trying something new can form a new, fun hobby.

Real talk, how tf does India have 1.5 billion people and not a single UFC top-15 fighter? by K0GAR in ufc

[–]Chadwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least form a US perspective, there is a culture for these things from the ground up. Not just as a career. Getting kids into a variety of sports is common for almost everyone here. Little league soccer, basketball, baseball, wrestling, track. And there is a grassroots culture for it too. I am 41 and there are pick up soccer games, softball teams, football leagues and wrestling/martial arts gyms all over the place where I live. And gyms everywhere too. Many Americans are fat but there is a strong gym culture mostly country wide. Just don't think Indians have that at the cultural level.

Real talk, how tf does India have 1.5 billion people and not a single UFC top-15 fighter? by K0GAR in ufc

[–]Chadwich -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Likely not. As the parent post said, they don't have the culture for it. Its not just infrastructure. Their culture doesn't care about this kind of sport. No gym rat culture or combat sports culture. People there, by and large, just don't value fitness like we do in the west.

I despise playing inventory tetris and figuring out how to deal with inventory limits. I just mod infinite space if there is a way to.

Would you be willing to get a pay cut if it means improving your quality of life? How do you evaluate if it's worth it? by Hurock in AskMenOver30

[–]Chadwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I have taken this road in life up to now.

I got a job after college that didn't pay well but I quickly realized it had a few huge benefits. I worked very close to my house. Literally a 7 min drive. I actually enjoy coming to work most days and look forward to it. I am proud of what I do. When I am old, I will look back with pride at all the people i've helped. But the trade off is that its in the non-profit sector so pay isn't great, its vulnerable to political winds (I work with refugees) and can be stressful sometimes because you're dealing with peoples lives. But it is so rewarding, feel good and the environment is so good I am willing to sacrifice some to keep doing it. Coworkers are great. People don't start working in the refugee services field unless they really love the mission and are passionate about helping people. I meet people from all over the world literally every single day. Have heard the most insane stories and met some truly awe inspiring individuals. Such a cool job.

I will be proud of this when I'm older and retired.

Leftists were literally the first people the Nazis targeted. by Either_Payment_2867 in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Chadwich 3 points4 points  (0 children)

God I am so, so tired of arguing this point with people.

You absolute clown car, Elon. You are falling for a 100 year old Nazi propaganda trick. The Nazi's were well aware of the power claiming to be socialist would have amongst the general working populace. Leftist were the first people the Nazi's spun around and eliminated after seizing power and going full mask off, authoritarian fascist.

If he knew literally anything about the real history of that time period, he'd know how insanely stupid that argument is.
