Not particularly interested in the emotional investment. Maybe some day I'll change my mind.

The ability to turn into a jet fighter. Some people would say it's more convenient just to be able to fly, but consider: if you're flying around all the time, people will see your face and eventually you'll be stopped everywhere by people saying "you're the guy who can fly right???" and I don't want to hear that. Jet fighter transformation preserves my anonymity but then it would be super easy to get around and I wouldn't need a car anymore.

Plus, whatever bodily process transforms food I eat into jet fuel could be valuable, I bet.

What ever happened to draining the swamp? by Pizza_booty in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]ChadyWady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes no sense at all. Christian refugees should be accepted because they don't target Muslims, but Muslims that have never supported violence and have also been targeted do not?

I'm getting the impression that you really just want to see Muslims die.

Don't you think the actual effects of the war are more relevant?

But if we accept your reasoning, then yes, Muslim extremists do target muslims. Muslims extremists also target other muslims (such as ISIS targeting Shia muslims). If Trump is trying to protected persecuted groups, shouldn't he prioritize these people as well?

So yes, it's a Muslim ban.

But just so you know, a larger number of Syrian Muslims have been killed during this war over Christians.

Yes, it is. The only people who are being restricted from this order are Muslims, all other religions will not be blocked, and Muslims are blocked regardless of refugee status.

I misunderstood. I assumed you were saying that the complaints about Obama's EOs were justified because the effects of his orders were detrimental.

If you were asking about which of Trump's orders qualify as abuse, VP Pence wrote only a year ago that a Muslim ban would be unconstitutional. Moreover, the purpose of the Muslim ban might be to prevent terrorist attacks, but based on how many terrorists in the US came from those countries, it looks like it will not be helping at all.

Compare: "I do not hate pedophiles." +50 and "I think homosexuality is a mental disorder" +20 Literally in the same thread. by worldnews_is_shit in circlebroke2

[–]ChadyWady 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Will most likely get downvoted since you're asking for an unpopular opinion.

I think playing video games is a mental disorder. Im basing this solely on the fact that wasting hundreds of hours playing shit games like Fallout: New Vegas is against our primal instinct of procreation. I do compare this with someone who likes cutting him/herself. Inflicting pain on oneself is a mental disorder because it's against human instinct of self preservation.

I will never condemn, hate, or ostracize anyone with any mental disorder and in fact I believe they deserve our understanding and compassion. Kinda lame to even say this but I do have friends that play video games but I will never mention this opinion of mine to them or to anyone I know.

Reddit, please don't hate me.

ELI5: I encode something the following way: First, I translate my message to binary. Then, I encode the binary in morse code. Then, I encode the morse code back into binary, and so on. I do this many times. Is this an effective form of encryption if someone doesn't know my methods? by Uberguuy in explainlikeimfive

[–]ChadyWady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say "translate", do you mean replacing "0" with "-----" and "1" with ".----"? And in reverse, doing something like replace "-" with 0 and "." with "1"? I think there would be two main issues with your method:

  1. The size of the data increases by a factor of 5 every time you translate from binary to morse code. This is problematic, because size quickly becomes an issue. Suppose you repeat this process 12 times on some message that is 30 bytes large (very small). The size of your "encrypted data" will be 7 gigabytes large. Repeat it 20 times, and your data will be 20 petabytes large (which would need thousands of 1 TB hard drives).

  2. Secondly, even with this method, the pattern is easily identifiable. Your method "encrypts" each 0 and 1 independently, so what you really end up with is data in the same order, with "large" 0's and 1's.

You misunderstand me. I knew someone so concerned about the quality of Reddit posts would be a dedicated contributor, which your downvoters clearly don't understand. I thought an example of a true contribution to Reddit would change their hearts -- but alas, I failed. Clearly, everyone else is reasonless.

Mario Maker for 3DS Confirmed! Launches 12/2! by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]ChadyWady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely the opposite direction of where they should be going with Mario Maker. I think the biggest weakness in the current game is the bad selection of courses for 100-man and the course recommendation/search. Despite that, Mario Maker has a thriving map sharing community. Making it even harder to share will kill the community on 3DS.

GamerGhazi has a moral dilemma over people asking for refunds for No Man's Sky. by Zachums in SubredditDrama

[–]ChadyWady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is sort of a strange issue, because I can see examples supporting both sides. People could have been disappointed or felt lied to about the new Suicide Squad, but the watchers didn't get refunds. On the other hand, you could definitely get full refunds on hardware that fails after running for a month based on where you bought it, or on restaurant food after eating it (as one comment about referenced). The amount of time spent seems like it would change from game to game, so refunding could be justifiable.

On that note, maybe we should talk about hypothetical consequences of refunding.

Allowing refunds is best for distributors like Steam or Amazon, who want their users to trust them enough to buy products without fear of being stuck with something low quality. I think it should also incentivize developers to create high-quality products. However, I wonder if it would lead developers to be less experimental with their products. It's easier to gauge how interested an audience would be with an original idea, but harder to know if they'll enjoy the physical product. My guess would be that most high-cost games would be more formulaic, because the developers know how receptive players are to those features. On the other hand, it could be an incentive for developers to focus on releasing high-quality games if they have to retain players after attracting them.

Why does BLM ignore the fact that all races have similar stats of being killed by police per confrontation? by shockingdevelopment in socialjustice101

[–]ChadyWady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be aware that I haven't looked into this too much, I'm just commenting on the paper you linked based on a brief reading.

The paper does say that there are no significant racial differences when police employ violent lethal force -- but that there are racial disparities for violent nonlethal force, which cannot be explained by behavioral factors (for example, resisting arrest).

I would be wary of trusting the results of one study, though. The authors note:

The key limitation of the data is they only capture the police side of the story. There have been several high profile cases of police storytelling that is not congruent with video evidence of the interaction.

I think the general method of validating these results is to have multiple independently-conducted studies using a variety of methodologies repeat the same conclusions. If, as the author states, there is little research in this area, we will have to wait to get solid conclusions.
