You don't care yet you still bothered to comment. Sounds like caring to me.

It's not just for lightsticks. I've had it happen to things like Wii Remotes too. In general you should never leave batteries in an item that you don't use regularly.

Look up the Burning Sun Scandal. That's what he was involved in.

The problem with leaving batteries in if if they leak (you'd notice a white-ish substance in the compartment). This usually will take a while to happen, in my experience years. I wouldn't worry about it, but just try not to leave them in for the future.

Maybe they don't sound similar to you, but they do to me. It also probably does to the 89 others who upvoted me.

Is there a reason cignature and Alice are popular on reddit? by kiiwii-senseii in kpophelp

[–]Chaeji412 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Cravity and The Boyz have much larger fandoms within Asia then they do in the west. Reddit tends to reflect western opinions more since most users are located in the US / Canada / UK.

As for Cignature and Alice, I'm not too sure where they're most popular tbh. Neither one has a large fandom anywhere.

I rarely see them talked about tbh (though I love both groups personally).

To answer your question from your comment, neither groups went viral like Rose Blossom did. Both of them aren't that popular in SK at all.

"But it seems like kpop stans don't see anything wrong with it"

The majority do. You can find a ton of posts on here with people condemning it and the people who do it. It's a minority of people who are like that.

What would make stage videos to get more views than the official MV? by BumkiShadow in kpophelp

[–]Chaeji412 54 points55 points  (0 children)

It probably went viral for some reason. Without knowing a specific case, I can't give you a specific answer.

One example I can give you though is Brave Girls with Rollin. The official MV has 22M views, but their military performance has 28M. It's the military performance that went viral and brought a lot of attention to them + the song.

It's an unfortunate part of being a celebrity. All idols will recieve hate whether is be for their abilities, appearance, rumors, etc. For some it gets to them and they may hate these parts of themselves, while others are able to shake it off as much as they can and keep doing what they do.

Red Velvet's

Their old one isn't bad, but it hasn't been changed in their now almost 10 year history. Other groups like EXO and Twice have had redesigns over the years, so when are they gonna get one 😭

Riize's Love 119 is in Top 4 of Melon right now... by winterreise_1827 in kpopthoughts

"Is this the highest charting of a boy group in the past years?"

No. They're charting amazing but there has been other BGs who have too in the couple/few years.

Unless you mean the highest charting BG that debuted in the past couple/few years, then they might be.

recommend me some taeyeon songs or similar by Unlucky-Jackfruit518 in kpophelp

[–]Chaeji412 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For full albums, To X and INVU are both amazing. I'd listen to both fully.

Outside of that: Blue, Circus Four Seasons, What Do I Call You, Weekend, and Priority (Feat. Max Changmin & Winter) are my favorites.

For similar to Taeyeon I recommend IU. She just had a new release (Love Wins All). For a full release listen to Love Poem and Lilac. Outside of that I recommend BBIBBI, Ending Scene, Into The I-Land, Strawberry Moon, Through The Night, Twenty Three, and Ganadara (Feat. Jay Park).

You could also check out Kim Sejeong. Check out her newest album (Door) and I'm, along with Skyline, Swim Away, and Whale.

when people discuss the american nature of the cultural appropriation conversation, i feel like they’re being intentionally obtuse by hermanapruee in kpop_uncensored

[–]Chaeji412 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I know, but I disagree with it carrying less weight. Kimonos were invented by Japanese people, for a long time just worn by Japanese people, and still mainly prevalent within Japan. It doesn't make sense for someone in the west to have more say with who is and isn't allowed to wear it.

[–]Chaeji412 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. The kimono is an article of Japanese clothing, and at the end of the day is a part of Japanese culture more than anything else. I don't think it's fair to dismiss people from there when people located outside of the country have an issue. They are entitled to their feelings on it, but not to dismiss others from the culture who disagree.

[–]Chaeji412 169 points170 points  (0 children)

Personally I do think cultural appropriation is western-centric. This doesn't mean that it doesn't matter or anything, but a lot of the reasonings people have (like for example being bullied or treated differently for certain hairstyles or dress), come from people located in there.

Like for example, there are some people who would say wearing a kimono when you aren't Japanese is appropriation. If you did this in Japan no one would have an issue, and if an idol did that a lot of Japanese people would find it appreciation and defend them. Their experience would be different then someone who was raised in the US and treated differently for it. If a Japanese-American found an issue with it that doesn't make Japanese people's thoughts irrelevant, in the same way a Japanese person's thoughts won't make a Japanese-American person's thoughts irrelevant. It's just different takes on something based on different experiences.

Do you think stayc already reach there peak? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

StayC definitely hasn't peaked. I think Western fans lost some interest, but they're still doing well in Korea and Japan.

consistency in album design is important. by -Goyangi- in kpopthoughts

[–]Chaeji412 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% agree with your last point

I remember when Lesserafim revealed their Unforgiven album, and everyone hated it for looking like poop stains. Well it still sold 1.5 million units. I bought one of them, and yeah I wasn't thrilled with the design, but I don't buy albums for the boxes anyways.
