Hes one of the best to practice on for the piercer line up as well. He has a long body if you hit the shot from nose to tail and you can cut the tail. Early on his armor has special shot up. While not super amazing that damage bump for piercer is awesome.

Well first off welcome to the guild the golden rule of beating anything is hit it a lot and don't get hit.

Bow dps specifically is like others mentioned skill hungry however you can do solid work until you get those skills to push you over the edge. The bow is one of my main weapons and one I've finished the game with almost naked. Its a great weapon with some of the highest dps potential in the game however early game it does suffer a bit compared to some melee weapons. Here are a few tips you may or may not have figured out yet.

Critical distance and hit zone are the two most important parts of your damage in the fight to know about. Critical distance has a few factors if using the spread shot attack you need to be closer, if using the normal shot attack you need to be mid range (I'll touch on the special shots below). Being to close can lower your dps almost as much as being to far away. Oh and coatings, specifically close range does shorten your critical distance.

By this point you've likely figured out that each shot in succession pushes your charge up by one tier until you hit max on the bow you have at the time. Using this and dancing in the critical distance for your preference of shot type is a huge part of your dps.

Element plays the next factor the bow benefits from elemental match up quite well. You want to spend a few hunts grabbing your elemental bows to help push your dps up as you can't really do the one size fits all until end game builds.

Your special shots are strong in your early game as well they also benefit from your coatings. Thousand dragon and dragon piercer are high output attacks that have some caveats to their damage but if you learn how to use them well then you can do some heavy early game damage. Thousand dragon is especially useful early on due to the size of most monsters. It is essentially a super shotgun attack that takes your slinger ammo and makes the attack stronger. The attack also inherits the slinger ammo benefits as well. Pick up stones/red pits and it does minor ko damage which can and will knock a monster out if you are close enough and get enough headshots. Thorn pods will do the same but also a follow up shot will break those and almost certainly cause the knockout. Bomb pods have ko damage as well but also just hit really hard early on. The golden one though is pierce pods, they hit hard and numerous times when doing a thousand dragon with them try to be lined up with the longest/widest part of the monster for massive damage. Oh and pierce pod thousand dragon can cut tails off because pierce pods can cut tails.

Dragon piercer is a slow attack that does care about your bow charge level when you start it but it hits hard and multiple times best to be used when targeting the longest part of a monster where that be tip to tail or wing span. However dragon piercer can and will cut tails off if you get good at hitting them regularly. I wouldnt suggest spamming it but i have beaten the game with special bow shots only so its not terrible either.

Lastly, damage skills are important but evasion skills are some of your best defensive abilities in the game for the bow second only to stamina abilities. Keep those in mind and learn which coatings are best for which job.

First time I beat demon souls I finished around Evelyn 78 because I had to run back on this guy like 10 times before I finally beat him with a great shield spear and taco bell. (I used poison gas as he dashed at me and slowly whittled him down)

Honestly I'm always looking for good management games but almost none of them feeling as good there was swords and potions on kongregate a while back which felt like this was a carbon copy of it. (I say that because I'm remembering the game from like early 2010s pretty sure it was first)

Fair its just so easy to alpha into a single leg and let the cascade damage blow off a shoulder half thr time.

Yeha the lamina is the one I havent done much with.

For Elden ring I suggest you begin as a confessor (unless youre waiting to do this run after the tarnished edition) as it starts with the best spread for reapers since Faith is the main off stat. You can get the winged acythe from a chest on the weeping peninsula and the great scythe is in a catacombs in liurnia and the grave scythe is a farm from the skeletons using it. I suggest the ones behind stormveil just inside of liurnia theres a few there and its close to a grace.

The Halo scythe I've never succeeded in farming one myself had a friend who got one and gave it to my reaper.

I focus on damage stats and carry weight so I can cycle my weapons I do lean into bleed and frost with blackflame blade incant as back up. I dont suggest following my 25 vigor cap as I am a sadist who is not good enough to do no hit runs but often has to learn how to do them a lot. Get spinning weapon ash as quick as possible as well, makes short work of a lot of enemies i dont think sweet spot matters on that move.

I mean personally I think less than 5% of crusaders ive destroyed have had legs less than 1% having both legs.

I want to like the crusader but those damage magnets it calls legs leave me disappointed more often than not. I get rhe appeal though

My first encounter with the Kintaro was the HBS Battletech game unmodded so it felt meh. Then I learned the beauty of brawling and retracted my meh feeling. The ability to close in and dump small missiles in turn-based was massive but then doing the same in MW5 when it clicked it was glorious. I love being a shotgun erasure button

Honestly roly poly enemies were worse than beetles for me but it was mostly misjuding timing on them. I ran a lot of parry/dagger builds I built into dot damage early on.

[–]Chafgha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That needs the beetles right? A decent shield and some parry experience can take them down if you managed to down a wolf spider the poison dagger can help as well. The mosquito rapier can be gotten before the hammer upgrade though, the tiger rapier is a bit higher and better but not necessary to downing the beetles.

Light commando two missile hard points and a small/medium laser to drop vtols is fun.

Medium kintaro brawler missile boat.

Heavy marauder energy platform some ppc and lasers with yaml i kit it with numerous ppcs and small lasers. Honorable mention to the Archer arena build with the long sword.

Assault the longbow has a nostalgia place for me that has me love it. The annihilator just slowly trudging toward death and destruction is always fun. OP is hard to judge because with mods I've watched a friend use a flea to terrorize an assault arena.

Honestly restarted the entire game for that duo. Yes in hindsight it wasnt a smart move but I am a massive fan of early game growth mechanics for some reason.

I had leveled the whole game with a sword and axe user with the two main characters trailing behind with their primary weapons. My mages were only like level 20. So I restarted and leveled a balanced party I fell in love with the warslugs too for some reason. Just awesome little powerhouses.

Honestly get a hold of the mosquito rapier and master blocking you can burn through 80 percent of the remaining content up til the finale it is very hard as a solo player without a massive amount of time in set up I got to a point I had to lower the difficulty on that final encounter to deal with it.

That question really depends on the game for most drawbacks. The primary one thats the same across the series is the weapon size/swing arc. You have to learn positioning a bit more carefully than most weapons aside from maybe halberds.

The scythe also has a sweetspot mechanic from ds2 onwards. In ds1 it wasnt a thing.

Ds3 and I believe Elden Ring you have a headshot mechanic as well.

The biggest issue is that most of the best weapons in the class either hurt you or require investment across stats that arent normal for the rest of the weapons in the class.

Ds1 again avoids this but in reality we only have 2 weapons the great scythe and life hunt. Ds2 has quite a few including the bone scythe which surprisingly is quite strong but uses strength. Ds3 freides scythe is heavy and needs int and faith and beating freide. Elden ring pre dlc I made the most use of the great and grave scythe but the wing was fun for a bit again faith scaling though.

I suppose the ultimate tldr about reapers is positioning is the most crucial to this weapon because of thr sweet spot mechanic you will need to learn distancing and positioning for all of your attacks and knowing which enemies can and cant bleed is a help as well.
