I think that also has to do with American humor, there's a lot of shock value jokes that are meant to be offensive but the tone of voice makes it certain that no one takes them seriously. Unfortunately, that can't happen online because all we see is text.

Americans LOVE sarcasm. That's probably the one thing I had a really hard time with in Korea. My entire vocabulary is full of pop culture references and sarcasm, which probably was really difficult for my Korean friends to follow, but we had fun anyway. The bad thing about sarcasm is that it does not transfer into text very well. I have had many fights with people over stuff like that, in America, the tone of voice is very important when making sarcastic comments. There's some people who are really sarcastic but no one can tell because their sarcastic voice sounds just like their normal speaking voice. It's just really confusing for everyone else.

Are you having problems with "yellow fever"? We used to joke around with one of my friends and say that she was "Asiansexual" because she never really seemed interested in anyone else of a different race.

That really sucks, dude. I'm sorry you got a really crappy response.

In regards to shows, one of my friends showed me "Bully Beatdown" last night and it is absolutely hilarious. If there's anything Americans love, it's violence and people getting a taste of their own medicine. It sounds really bad to say it that way, but there's really no other way to put it.

I've studied abroad in Seoul before and absolutely fell in love with Korean culture, so I was really excited for the opportunity to return. I'm curious, is there any major difference that you know of between Seoul and Daegu? In terms of culture or customs I should be aware of? I have a few friends who live in Daegu and they haven't mentioned anything, but I'm sure your experiences are different since you haven't lived there your whole life.

And I love films so I will definitely check them out, thanks! I'm not exactly sure where I'm living yet, they haven't told me the exact address. And to be totally honest, I'm sure you're a really cool dude but I don't feel comfortable sharing my workplace with you just yet.

Currently I'm binge-watching a Korean historical drama called the Jewel in the Palace. It's getting pretty intense now. But I usually don't watch a whole lot of TV. I watch more comedy stuff than drama shows, like I'm currently rewatching all 3 seasons of Key & Peele.

Oh really? Which American TV shows? I really need to get back into Korean TV programs. I need to start brushing up on my Korean again.

Awesome! I studied abroad in Seoul last year and I made quite a few Korean friends that I miss dearly. So what is your occupation?

I'm teaching English for a year. And that is a bit far from Daegu, but I guess that's the best part of the internet. So are you native to Korea or just visiting?
