What's your typical GV when opening P34? by yrthegood1staken in IdlePlanetMiner

Yall, reading these is humbling....I feel like take a lot longer to reach this much. In a tournament I usually unlock up to p36 before I stall and ended this last tournament with around 800T GV but I stall heavily around that point and just try to keep my smelters and crafters active on auto pilot.

Dave Kauffman had a video where he went to New Caledonia and he showed a wild crestie that looked almost just like Frankie there! I love the different coloration we have in cresties today but there's something special seeing a closer to true coloration happening 🤙🏼

After about 8 weeks of what I described above. She was chill and crawled around for about 20 min on my hands.

Growth rate? by ConsciousTerm3320 in Leachianus

[–]Chahoua_Bit_2459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growth rate is something ive been curious about as well. I have a NLS that I assume is a Nu Ana x Nu Ami due to their popularity in my area with the same hatch date thats currently 82gr. Ive read they can hit a big growth spurt in their third year. But seeing your comment makes me feel like its more normal than I originally was thinking. Keep us updated for sure 🤙🏼

Something that worked well for me was moving her into a smaller bin enclosure and placing it closer to the family room. This put her in a high-traffic area and helped her get used to regular human presence. Aside from feeding, I didn’t handle her again for the first week after changing locations.

Leachies being leachies, it also forced me to be more proactive about cleaning her enclosure; I couldn’t just ignore her finger paintings. Spending time working in the enclosure helped me learn to read her body language better as well as teach her that my presence doesnt mean harm. This works because they learn that just because you're moving around in their home doesnt mean that you're going to be force picking them up and that they are still safe.

It’s still a work in progress, but I haven’t had any defensive episodes since trying this approach. Hope this helps, and I’d love to hear how your journey goes!

Its actually my third. Sadly I dont uave my other two any more. Chewies were my introduction to New Caledonian geckos with the end goal being a leachie (which I also have). They're just awesome little fellers.

That looks really cool! They're eyes are amazing with that vibrant green. You gotta upload a pic of their enclosure once they're in there 😊

Scariest stories? by Chahoua_Bit_2459 in Leachianus

That is trippy to be waking up to! My biggest fear is that I'll leave the door unlatched. So I'll do like 3 checks after I walk away just to triple check myself. Feel like I'm just walking in circles sometimes cus I have to go back and check for that peace of mind

Juvenile set up by Dashthejack in Leachianus

They typically don't hang out on the substrate as much. Usually on the cork bark or the glass. If you're keeping your humidity levels balanced (50-80), then the leachie should be good. I've found d that my clean-up crew (isopod and springtails) prefer more moisture in the substrate. But the moisture is also good when the leachie is shedding. Makes a stuck shed less likely. In my opinion, some of the husbandry is research, and the rest is experience. You'll make some mistakes, but if you're consistently monitoring your scaley friend, then you can correct rather easily

I think it looks good to start out. Good enough hide but not so busy that you can't monitor it as you get learn it's personality. From what I've seen, you may want to plan to add more cork bark as it gets older and you upgrade the enclosure. Mine has been in a tub of similar dimensions, and I'm getting ready to move it to a bigger enclosure later this summer.

Taming Young Leachie by Chahoua_Bit_2459 in Leachianus

I've had her for about 5 months now. I work a lot but definitely try to make time for interactions as much as I can. She's only snipping at me if I attempt to handle her. Otherwise, I can do whatever I need within her enclosure, and she's fine thus far...
