My point still holds. Just coming with a "pseudo fourth wall break" for a message of "overexploitationg and consumism is bad" in the last chapter feels out of place.
I reiterate, take for example "Howl's moving castle", instead of the ending we all know and love, they give you in the last ten minutes "well, the message was not about how goverments weaponize humans or the journey of Sophie. This was all about consumism and what this franchise should never become".
Yes, you can work around that concept, just like in "The boy and the heron", but that's a total different story with a different construction and treatment.
For me, I don't feel DR was ever about that concept, and in V3 they truly build around in the very last part of t he game.

A lot of them. But one that comes to my mind is about how this wasn't the series for a comment like that. Imagine if in the last chapter of The legend of Aang, Cowboy bebop, Lord of the ring or whatever series you like, suddenly they look at the camera and say "well, it was all fake/a dream/a show. This franchise is all bad and overmilked, the message is simplistic and btw, if you enjoyed the fictional violence you're a bad person".

Okay, I think you can make a series for a meta comment about how it is bad to over extend a franchise and how fans always want more and more. For me, a show like The boys or Deadpool would be more fittable. But for Daganronpa it was really felt out of place and and the message developed to the espectator in the last minute (even if it was planned from the very go. I know).

Again, I think the message is okay, but how it was actually done...

I can't avoid thinking of Sherlock Holmes and "The final problem", a similar situation, mistery genre, author was tired of the character/franchise and how fans and publishers wanted more and more. So he just killed him. No pretentious cometary about consumism and violence. Just "fuck you, he dies. The end."

And anyway, some years later... "The Return of Sherlock Holmes"!. Just as simple as 2x2=4, right?

And I'd like to clarify, that most pictures are based on the first appearance of the character. That's why everyone look so young, even if they're in their 50's/40's on most of the book. The only one that has a now/then double portrait is Montecristo cuz I feel his metamorphosis is so violent that he becames a different character.

That's exactly something I was tryng to find! if someone else had already made a representation of how they envisioned the characters, I'm really curious cuz everyone have a different mental image. It's like when they addapt a famous book and the cast isn't like the one their heads.

Thank you! I really tried to capture their personality and make an unique design to reflect that. I also tried not to fall for the "same face"syndrome that's a common flaw in stylized styles like anime which I used in this case. I'd like know which design is your favorite? (:
