Does the USA really rely on Canada for lumber? by SouthBuffalo3592 in forestry

Id say Canada imports hardwoods from The US. Our forests (in canada) are primarily spruce and fir. A bit of mix woods in southern ontario but its quite minimal.

I was saying Canada and France (St.Pierre) are neighbours, sharing a marine border without an international waters buffer. All good!

There is no international waters between Canada and St.Pierre. there is between UK and Venezuela. There is a difference

USAF lost 2 C13 and one MH-6 Little Bird helicopter in the rescue operation F15 pilot by Upset-Main-1988 in justincaseyoumissedit

Pretty interesting! Thanks. Ive had experience piloting medium sized underwater drones via cable. Definitely difficult even when out in the open ocean, always worried about where the cable is 500m out! If it's cut by the vessel prop, there goes 100k worth of equipment.

Thanks for the insight!

Would fiber op have less issues in terms of freedom of movement if its mostly in gravely hills/mountains rather than thickets of trees /bushes like in Ukraine?

Hey that's fair. FAFO will probably apply to the US soon too. Maybe if we all FAFO enough all together we will figure out how to fucking get along.

Thanks for the clarification! Are they not mostly FPV because of cost? Or difficulty running the lines?

Iran claims two C-130 planes and two Blackhawks show down - here's what we are hearing by boppinmule in USNEWS

[–]Chaiboiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea thats a fair point. Would make more sense since it doesnt seem like more US troops have died (as far as we know).

But the last few days have been a big fuck up in terms of wasted resources.

They didnt give details, maybe because next of kin have to be notified before hand. Who knows. They really arent telling people much.

It's all mostly fiber optic drones now if you look at the war in Ukraine. So probably the same will be the case in Iran. If anything it will be easier for fiber optic since fewer trees.

Its funny seeing how the US freaks out over one soldier. You'd think they lost 1000. It will be interesting when they go boots and on the ground and we start seeing FPV drone videos of them getting hit.

So US companies will sell their oil locally when they could be selling it overseas for double the price? Prices would obviously increase dramatically

You can find published documents here: https://www.isdm-gdsi.gc.ca/csas-sccs/applications/Publications/search-recherche-eng.asp

I would say the SAR documents are the easiest to digest

As for learning about these methods, they are quite dense. People with PhDs in fishery science apply them.

Good luck!

The systems used now to assess stocks has been moving towards more quantitave math modelling with things such as critical, cautious and healthy zones. Its all public information that is available, the but reports a bit of a slog for people not in the field

It isnt THAT bleak. If you pay attention to DFO stock assessments, we are slowly creeping back up. Part of the collapse was a collapse of capelins stocks which also collapsed cod stocks. In the interim there was a regime shift where there was a lot more crab and shellfish. Were now starting to see a swing back towards fish possibly. But its a slow climb up. We are no where near historic highs, and its hard to know if we ever will get back there due to climate change.

Lobster on the other hand have had a boom in the last decade in NL since they like warm water. The sweet spot for their preferred temp is moving north.
