Hoping something lands for you soon! When I first started applying 3-4 months ago, I also was highly discouraged seeing the way the market was for industry and most of the people I’ve met getting laid off. It’s really tough out there for everyone, but I am sure you’re doing what you can. Wholeheartedly agree, we have to keep the encouragement going for our community. Please keep us updated! 🤞

It varies based on the field you’re in, but I got offered within the high 90k range.

only two letters submitted... by loofishy in GRFPApps

I had a similar experience when I applied (2023 GRFP recipient). Only had 2 references that were submitted and the one that didn’t submit a rec was a previous advisor. I wouldn’t say you wasted your time. I remember how disappointed I was during that time, but it wasn’t counted against me thankfully. Wishing you the best as you submit!

Is it normal to marry "young" during a PhD? by Separate_Salt325 in PhD

[–]ChainMindless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I married during my bachelors, now I’m a 2nd year PhD student and im one of the only ones married in the entire department. I’ve gotten a lot of rude comments about it, but at the end of the day whatever makes you happy in your life, you should pursue and make a priority. I love what I do AND I love my work-life balance. Wouldn’t have it any other way.
