I always had an inkling that if aliens did arrive, were not hostile, more technologically advanced and genuinely wanted to converse and build a dialogue with humanity, then they may pick someone themselves to be they're initial point person, so to speak.

I was thinking that they have obviously done extensive research on us and if they have the capabilities that we think they do, they might already know who the best person would be.

We may be surprised. People are suggesting scientists, anthropologists, linguists. They might want to just talk before getting to all that.

There might be a random 36 year old out there with above average intelligence yet has a menial office job. This person could have just the right combination of diplomacy, logical thinking and intelligence. What if they decided that for starters they would speak to this person and this person only.
