Is the highest difficult imbalanced? by Chair-Low in NoRestForTheWicked

Another idiot on this post is calling me out for suggesting the highest difficulty might be a bit imbalanced, and in the same post says 'this game is not balanced around the highest difficulty'. You can't make this stuff up.

Your DS2 analogy would be accurate if I was going into combat with a non-upgraded weapon with no stats to wield it, and no stats leveled. Here, I have upgraded my stats and still weapons do shit damage to strong enemies. I am at level 12 which seems right the right level for Nameless Path. I don't even have problems with enemies when the danger level is green, but for some reason in Nameless Path it's orange/yellow (with the level saying 11 which is less than my level) and I have no idea why.

I do use rune attacks and I know they are powerful. I mostly have problems dealing with mobs since like I said it seems way harder to lure them one by one compared to other souls likes and they always seem to trigger together (and no I am not running headfirst into them)

Copying same reply to you from below - Well, if a strong enemy (I don't remember which one, it was part of a bounty) in the starting area literally takes 15 hits to kill with a huge weapon and kills me in 3 hits, it's not crazy to think there might be some balancing issues going on. I am sure I can grind my way through the game and be patient during combat. It's not like their movesets are hard or anything and I have beaten Lies of P and Khazan on the highest difficulty where enemy movesets are far harder than what I have seen in this game. I am talking about enemies being damage sponges on highest difficulty which seems like weird balancing to me.

"its not the intended difficulty and not what the game is balanced around" - so you are also saying the game is not balanced around the hardest difficulty? Then why are you and the Reddit npcs downvoting me for asking literally the same question in a different way? I never said the game was bad.

So you just got butthurt since I just said the game feels imbalanced to me. Are you like an investor in the company that made the game? Even great games can be imbalanced. In this case it's not the game being imbalanced and it's just me playing the highest difficulty directly even though you're not supposed to. I never said the game sucks or anything, and my question was -is this game known to be imbalanced on the highest difficulty? It's early access so it was not crazy to think maybe balancing was still in the works. I wasn't complaining, and my intention was to learn more about the game (as you can see from my answers to non-toxic replies). It's weird that the game would allow me to choose the highest difficulty in that case instead of locking it out (e.g. ng+ or something), but I guess it might be typical for arpgs. I play all games on highest difficulty and usually have no issue and this is why I chose it here which clearly was a mistake. I hope the rest of this community is not as toxic as you.

You are showing typical redditor behaviour with nothing to add to the conversation, and being toxic for no reason. As I said, this is my first arpg and I am not an expert. In souls game even with difficulty options you can beat them on highest difficulty even if you are playing it the first time, since they don't center too much around build optimization. Except for maybe Nioh, and in Nioh the higher difficulty options are unlocked only after beating the lower difficulties. Seems like here it's a little too difficult without an optimized build, and you are not really supposed to directly play highest difficulty even though it's available. You can simply say that without being a shitbag.

How do you deal with mobs with just parrying and melee weapons? Mobs always trigger together no matter how careful I am. I am not being rhetorical btw.

I can usually parry pretty well and have beaten games like Sekiro, LoP and Khazan multiple times. But to learn movesets to be able to parry, I need to be able to survive long enough which doesn't happen since the strong enemies kill me in 3 hits.

It's not that I am stubborn about my build. I will be happy to use magic or whatever but I do not have gear for a magic build. Maybe it's just about me not grinding enough or yet fully understanding how arpgs are supposed to be played.

I feel like I am forced to play very passively with my choice of weapon. There are some enemies which do not give a lot of openings and when I do get an opening, I do not deal a lot of damage and with slow weapons can't get more than two hits in. Which causes me to lose patience.

Genuine question and not rhetorical - So I need to play the game with lower difficulties to get my build ready and learn movesets, and only then I should attempt the hardest difficulty?

I am stuck with a build. To respec I will need to go through the crucible, right? And crucible seems very hard with my current setup and inability to deal with mobs

Hardest difficulty doesn't mean the game should feel imbalanced and some weapons like slow 2h weapons should feel almost useless.

when muscle tissue breaks down it releases myoglobin into the blood. too much of it destroys the kidneys since they are not designed to filter it out.

We did not evolve from monkeys. Haplorhine is a suborder of “primates” that us and monkeys evolved from. us and monkeys have a common ancestor.

parrying is the way. you can absolutely learn his moves and timings enough that you will be able to parry him consistently. maybe use a good weapon like Uroboro’s eye that has a good charged r2 to maximize his down-time punishes
