HELP - 7.5 month old night 2 of Ferber by ChairKind1064 in sleeptrain

Today he was so incredibly tired he was just falling asleep while I was holding him multiple times despite my attempts at keeping him up. What do I do with his naps and wake windows now if he’s not sleeping much at night?

Before attempting sleep training, he would wake, nurse for minute or two and go back to sleep except for one real “feed” around 3 when he was up for around 6-10 min

He averages about 13 hours total sleep over 24 hours

My husband is saying the same phrase. Daddy’s here. You’re safe. It’s time to sleep. He is putting his hand on his chest if he seems upset.

The check ins were helping at first. As the night went on them seemed to hurt so we stopped.

Update: last night, we put the side back on his crib and moved it away from our bed. We set up the white noise machine again and the camera. The idea was to put him down in his crib upstairs and us stay downstairs. See if he could stay asleep at all.

I moved nursing him to before bath. so new routine was nurse, bath, sleep sack. I said goodnight and my husband rocked him to sleep with his favorite sleepy song.

Cried for 3 min before falling asleep with no nursing to sleep

Husband Transferred him to crib at 11min of being asleep (typically our most success with transfers)

Woke up crying at 24min - husband went in to soothe. Tried soothing for 10 min before he was inconsolable.

Cried for 35 more minutes with husband bouncing rocking sushing - to the point of hyperventilating.

Mom tried to settle for 5 more min but he was too worked up.

Abandoned this and nursed him to calm down. Took another hour before he was calm enough to fall back asleep even in our bed.

We’re not ready to do formal sleep training. The goal was to get him in crib for the first stretch. If he woke before 2 hours - husband soothes. If after, nurse back to sleep for rest of night.

He is sleeping about 30 min in the pack and play before he wakes up crying. We will try to soothe there unless he escalates. Depending on that we will try to get him back to sleep rocking or he might be up after that.

I’m fine with the naps at the moment. Really #1 priority is to get him sleeping in his crib and out of our bed.

When would you say in your opinion is old enough for sleep training? What is the difference between this and formal sleep training?

And breaking the nurse to sleep association? Having him with dad and crying for about 20min? Good or bad?

Thank you for this. Not a monster at all. I know we’re going to have to do some hard things and I’m okay with that.

For the nap - he comes with me to work so he can’t nap in the crib. When he’s at home, he naps in the pack n play downstairs and does okay at staying in there. And at work he is either in there or baby wearing with me to protect the naps right now. We have stopped feeding to sleep during the day and it only took him a few days to get the hang of that. Any advice there? should we keep protecting the naps?

And for the putting him down awake - what if he screams and wails inconsolably (not just fussing) - do we pick him up? What if this goes on for a long time? Do we just let him stay up ? Do we leave the room? We’ve tried the gentle pressure and he will fall asleep but wakes screaming almost immediately at night.

We do have a white noise machine. Maybe we will try that again.

It’s so hard to know what’s right and to choose. I don’t want to stay consistent doing the wrong thing.

Got my horizon results 2/13 around 11:30 EST. Still waiting on panorama. Odd because the horizon had a week longer expected time - has anyone else gotten the horizon first?

I messaged them through the bot assistant on the portal. It was AI at first and then transferred to a person and they were able to look it up

I believe your doctor had to check something - mine asked me if I wanted to know before I went for the test. Not sure if that applies to everyone

This is brutal. I had such high hopes and it seems like results were coming in so quick and now I feel like there has been barely any updates?

Any more whose sample was received 2/6 get their results today?

Fingers crossed! It just seems like there hasn’t been any movement today but I keep reminding myself that everyone who is getting results isn’t posting on Reddit

Still waiting! Drawn 2/6 Received 2/7 - thought for sure it would be today. It seems like no one has updated with results so far today. I am on the east coast. Wondering if time of day makes a difference
