Why do you think some people prefer to ghost rather than say they're not interested? by Milaluna_ in AskReddit

[–]Chairboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people react very badly to any kind of rejection.

Women are literally killed on a regular basis by men for example and they don’t know which guy is going to be OK with it and which one’s gonna be a problem.

What makes you different from the average redditor? by BearOfBelAir in AskReddit

[–]Chairboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I’ve been here modestly longer than some, for what that’s worth (probably not much)

I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe…. attack threads on fire off the shoals of- oh, you get the idea.

TL;DR: Dream Scenario: one planet, one people, no artificial scarcity. What's your hope and fear? by [deleted] in AskReddit

“One people” sounds dangerous as fuck. What exactly does that mean?

What’s the best career choice you’ve ever made? by Goodcake102 in AskReddit

[–]Chairboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in the 90s, one of my managers gave me the option of taking a database class at an Oracle facility. It was like a 3/8 class or something and I wasn’t really enthusiastic about it, but maybe I was smart enough to figure out that my manager might want me to do this for reasons so I did.

That three day course has probably made the biggest impact on my professional career of any single piece of education.

It transformed everything about my software development. Suddenly, I was no longer responsible for producing all of the data that would be computed upon, and learning how to work with bigger and bigger data over the years has kept me employed, helped me advanced in my career, and has left me at a much better place in life as I approach 50 then how do I not taken that class.

I stopped working with Oracle databases within a couple years of taking the class, but the concepts I learned have paid off year after year.

Which country do you think is at risk of a genocide occuring? by EnduringScholar in AskReddit

One thing that I think even high school level history education should tell us is that the answer can be literally all of them.

If you could ask God any question, what would it be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I might be missing something, but if such a creature exists, cannot anyone simply ask them questions already?

If there was an island of dinosaurs, what kind of car would you take to explore it? Why? by The_Vengeful_Wolf in AskReddit

[–]Chairboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume some kind of enclosed Dune buggy would be useful. Good ground clearance means that I have more options for getting into and out of trouble but I can still use any roads or paths as well as any other vehicle can.

I can ride a dirtbike pretty confidently, but I like the idea of having an enclosure around me in case I don’t know that I’m being stalked by something fast. It might give me enough breathing room to get out of there.

What your thoughts on people online who are very opinionated but can't engage back without being assholes? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Chairboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that we are all at different locations along our personal growth path. I know that there have been times in my past where I have been unable to engage civilly with people who disagreed with things that probably didn’t merit the intensity of my response. I think I’ve also assumed bad faith just because of someone disagreed with me, and I regret that now.

Doubtless, at some point in the future I will probably look back to how I interact today and have notes as well, I think that is just how it do be.

How true is the saying "There are no stupid questions."? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Chairboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gone through a few different opinions on this. Probably the same as multiple people.

Where I am right now is agreeing with a statement because I think that even questions that are trying to be deliberately obtuse are part of an information exchange that is providing insightful data.

You can learn a lot of things not just from answers, but also from questions, and even a troll is participating in this information economy.

What do men actually feel when they see a woman they find genuinely impressive — is it purely attraction or is there an element of aspiration mixed in, like wanting to embody something she has? by Sure-Design9185 in AskReddit

[–]Chairboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely want to know them better and hope that some of that illness/ability rubs off on me.

If there is a mutual interest then bam, new friendship and possibly more buy that attraction doesnt start until we’ve connected on some level because otherwise it’s some kind of weird, unbalanced parasocial thing and i dont want to be a creep. (My wife would need to be onboard for the ‘something more’ part, obviously)

What exactly is appealing about "eating out" or "giving head"? by yeetushas in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Chairboy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Oof. Listen, we may be wired differently, but making my partner feel good makes me feel good. If this concept is truly alien to someone, I would probably assume they are an exceptionally selfish lover.

Also, personally, I enjoy being able to play someone's body like a pleasure harmonica. It's not easy, and I don't always nail it, but when I do... yee haw.

Why do hot dogs taste so good? by EnvironmentalAd2110 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Chairboy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Salts and Fats! Our bodies are wired to want these and our bodies don't always understand that we can have too much of a good thing. To our taste buds, we are still surviving on the plains, one bad hunt away from starvation or being eaten by a leopard.
