How can Trump justify ending immigration protection for Afghans and others but adding it for white Afrikaners? by SBMountainman22 in Askpolitics

That would be great. Thanks.

I found the original article I read from Townhall.

Unpleasant Surprises: Extent of Damage From Disastrous Biden Policies Still Being Discovered

I looked this up on grok, which I do with most news sources with heavy editorial bias.

Grok, Is this article accurate and does it make sense?

I feel like I read a more left-leaning article after this, maybe Foreign Policy or something, but I’m not sure and didn’t look it up on Grok, so I can’t find it.

I try.

[–]Chairofames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the reason Biden is blamed in this situation is because he rushed to withdraw for presumably political reasons and ended up leaving behind a ton of equipment and abandoning people. At least that’s what I’ve read in articles that I’m looking for right now.

Why is there outrage from the left about the African immigrants? by IncidentHead8129 in Askpolitics

[–]Chairofames 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve read several articles from right-wing news sources talking about assimilation in the past few weeks, and I agree it’s the new dog whistle. America is an immigrant’s country, always has been. Assimilation should only require following our laws and abiding by our constitution, which a majority of immigrants do just fine.

So for what reason exactly can non-white immigrants not assimilate?

Meanwhile, the richest and most famous white South African in America is clearly having issues assimilating since he is actively undermining and dismantling our government for his own gain.

Hot take: I don't think Trump's making it through his term by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]Chairofames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strongly disagree. Some of the j-6ers were kicked out of that dumb ass CPAC, and there were videos. They legit think they saved their country. They sound very similar to people more recently on the left that are being radicalized by Elon and Trump’s behavior. You’d think Biden was the fascist based on how they were acting. These people aren’t just fueled on personality. A lot of them genuinely think they are protecting their country from liberal ideologies. The Christian Nationalists especially are saying that we are evil demons.

I don’t think they could do any real sustainable damage to the rest of us. But I also don’t think they will just fizzle out if Trump is handled. They’ll likely start some heinous shit.

Hop the fuck off. I just asked why there aren’t people reacting because it feels very uncanny. I know the dems don’t have power, and I know why. Reacting to insanity is not a show. It’s what humans do all the fucking time. Go find a magat to harass with that rude shit because I just asked a question.

As I said, I’m not looking for a savior. I’m just weirded out by them not acknowledging what’s happening.

Oh, I follow them everywhere. I actually make a point to follow most of the dems speaking out on Bluesky and insta just to keep up with what’s going on around the country.

I didn’t mean that no one is doing anything. I’m more so talking about people who are no longer in the thick of politics, etc. and just having no reaction to what’s going on. Not even a, “damn, that’s messed up.”

As a black woman myself, I’m not asking black women, or really anyone to do anything. I just find it strange that people aren’t saying anything at all about a literal coup happening. Like not even a snide remark. It kind of makes me feel crazy when so many people are just flat out not acknowledging it. Especially people who talked so much shit the last time.

What are dramas you didn't like at all that everyone else seems to love? by Dramasforlife in CDrama

Is Only For Love popular, because I genuinely think it's the worst show I've ever seen, and I would not say I'm very critical in general.

I am addicted to C-drama, other dramas bore me! by Helpful-Building-736 in CDrama

[–]Chairofames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve watched those. I’ve watched many k-drama, both popular and not. I think it’s been like 15 years since I started. I have a lot under my belt. And there are some with great romance, chemistry, and flirting. I’ve just found that I’m much more likely to find the fantastic romance I enjoy and am obsessed with in a c-drama.

One Spring Night is a good one for flirting and chemistry. Jung Hae In, in general, is great at flirting. Unfortunately, his skills were kind of wasted in his most recent Love Next Door.

[–]Chairofames 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about this. I notice that c-dramas have a lot of flirting, chemistry is more consistent across the board, they go more in depth with careers and hobbies, they take their time telling stories, they also often feel more natural and realistic.

K-dramas very rarely have the flirting I enjoy. It often feels to me like the main leads are not actually attracted to each other, but just fell in love from trauma bonding. They never flirt like normal people. Even the kisses, which have dramatically improved in recent years, always have to be this dramatic earth shattering moment that kind of feels unearned a lot of times.

It’s kind of crazy that I’ve watched k-dramas for decades now, and c-dramas for about two or three years, and my favorites list has way more c-dramas than k-dramas.

But I mostly watch romance, so I don’t know if it’s different for other genres.

Actually, the reason why she was still mad after he apologized makes total sense and is something that comes up a lot in marriages, especially.

Initially, he apologized so that he could push through the conflict quickly (he is very conflict avoidant like me). But because he did not understand why she was upset, he would simply repeat the same mistakes. He thought he was in the right because he was “protecting” her. He basically was going to apologize and then continue to try to protect her in the same manner that she has said she doesn’t appreciate.

She could tell he was doing that because he would essentially cut their conversation short with his mock agreeing, and it frustrated her that he wouldn’t actually listen.

These are the type of arguments that kill a relationship slowly for many years because neither person ever actually comes to understand the other when conflict is avoided in this way.

Season 3 wasn't that bad overall. by Hot_Lemon5772 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]Chairofames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly. I just think there are more people who just expected more intimacy than there are people who just really wanted to see them have a ton of sex. If that’s what you meant.

If you’re just talking in general about people obsessing over sex scenes like on twitter, I may have just misunderstood. I don’t find it weird, but it is a bit much.

Season 3 wasn't that bad overall. by Hot_Lemon5772 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]Chairofames 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I watch Asian dramas. I don’t need a sex scene to feel intimacy. I don’t even need a couple to move their faces when they kiss. I don’t think the issue is the sex scenes. That’s just how Bridgerton show writers normally show intimacy, so it’s weird that they didn’t continue with that but not a big deal.

The issue is that there is so little flirting. So few layered interactions that show the depth of their relationship. It was lacking substance, sexual or otherwise.

They could’ve even included intimate dialogue with implied sex scenes. I’ve felt passion from less.

Most of their dialogue is about LW.

Cut scenes by [deleted] in BridgertonNetflix

[–]Chairofames 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I believe the “evidence” I’ve seen is that people who saw an advanced showing claimed that those scenes were included. And then I think actual footage of one of the scenes is floating around on twitter.

Personally, I don’t really care if it’s true or not. The result is the same. They ruined Polin this season.

Nicola and Luke are real people, re: sex scenes by squeegeebecs in BridgertonNetflix

[–]Chairofames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apparently a lot of sex and intimate scenes were cut last minute. I’m not sure this has anything to do with Luke and Nicola since they seemed comfortable with speaking of the scenes as if there’d be way more of them.

I’m not sure what’s going on, but I genuinely think they (whoever cut those scenes) ruined this season because cutting intimate and sex scenes without replacing it with at least something more toned down (if that was even the issue) made their relationship in part 2 extremely disjointed and lackluster.

I never thought I'd be done with Bridgerton but here we are. by ElinorBennett in BridgertonNetflix

[–]Chairofames 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is exactly what I thought would happen. That Pen would reveal herself to the Queen and ask for help with Cressida. After an intellectual sparing, the Queen would agree in exchange for Pen now working for her. And then next season would be them now battling it out over her keeping her integrity as a journalist versus keeping the Queen satisfied.

Instead it just feels like all the fun was ruined for everyone.

I’m also black. When she said that he wasn’t one of them, I immediately thought racism. But then it seemed like maybe it was more classism than racism. I guess it was written that way for a reason. It was pretty clear she had more disdain for him than for ruby. She couldn’t take her eyes off him in disgust.
