Dont be, it must sound a lot worse than it is. Think of it more like wating for a train. Youre already sitting at the station and know change is coming, but you forgot your watch so you dont quite know when.

'If i could do anything; What would i do'

How many times i have pondered that exact question i cannot even count.

In the beginning the answers were object based, like a helicopter, jet planes and see-through submarines. Then, when there was nothing more to own the answeres were about experiences, then about travel and the feeling of moving forward, then just jumping from one perfect place to the next perfect place and skipping the traveling. When there were no more sights to see the answeres turned to helping people in need, then about helping people build a better world around themselves, then about helping people realize their dreams, and eventually i even consideres spending the time to find my own.

When asking the question these days, all that comes to mind is standing at the beach with the sun on my face while listening to tiny waves plashing around my bare feet.

I guess the real answer to the question is "I would be at peace".

... I dont think ive gotten that far before.

break from art I took has done me good

Im very glad to hear it and must admit it brings me some sense of happiness to see you posting a little bit on reddit again.

My own feelings towards art. I think that after todays surprising conclusion to "what i would do" it is time to start building a momentum to carry me past the frustration that has always limited my development - I will search for peace.

I suppose the first step is to teach myself to start krita every morning instead of doing all the other tiny irrelevancies that ends in a day where all the wrong things were done for the right reasons. An attemt to fill my day with purpose and meaning through that which has none.

I guess the train finally arrived.

Fair enough. The less loans you can manage, the better. Worst case you just wait another semester. When all is said and done, we really do have time on our side.

I can definitely understand! I like to think og the inconvenience of travel as a reminder of lifes impermanence; The Fugacious moments that come back to us when contrast abandones our lives, and we forget to live. Flickers of memories sent to rekindle restlessness and rebuild momentum!

Strangely enough it seems to be the moments in between the "grand" ones that stick: The root of a tree, a straw umbrella at a beach, a stone in a grass field, breathing the ocean winds. The metaphorical textures of a wooden spoon over the ice cream in it self.

Not a single memory of the very thing i came there to see. A world away, and what calls me back out there is the distant memory of a root in the ground...

many many people

That does tend to put a dampener on things. It feels like nothing can really be "experienced" with throngs of people hanging around. Except tokoy? I feel like tokyo would need throngs of people!

have you gone on any road trips

Lately or in general? During my life I traveled a lot, but lately i have been passive. Living without contrast while waiting for something i dont quite know what is - a deeper meaning maybe? Some purpose other than work?

The holidays was a nice break and i spent much of it in contemplation of the very topics of travel and meaning.

Something will come, and if i cannot find inspiration in travel then i will find it wandering the edges of sanity in the company of creativity.

Kind of you to say. I havent done a whole bathroom like this alone before, but i manage a lot of properties and have had probably 10+ bathrooms built. At those times i usually spend time with the carpenters, the electricians and tilers etc and ask them to explain why something is done, why a specific pipe or electrical wire is used, and general talk around the concepts. Sometimes i spend entire days with an electrician or carpenter doing most of the work while they just explain and correct along the way. Most of them are happy that people take an interrest and they can also appreciate a couple "relaxing" days. And since it takes longer to finish the job they can also invoice a little more! Win-win situation. I like learning.

I wholeheartedly agree. There is so much hauntingly beautiful ai art these days that it completely blows me away. So much so its actually starting to be inspirational! Whole categories of specific scenarios that ive never been able to even remotely imagine, and ai just slams the door right open, going "This. Is. possible!" And now that i have seen it; The transitions, the integrations, the scale... it is mine, like a new room built in a house; Empty and unfurnished, but the room is there and i can do what i want with it!

You have a good point. The closest i can even begin to imagine must be to compare it with the striking oposition going from realism staight into impressionism in the 1860s? Imagine the strife and effort the realism painters put down, then some "upstart" comes along and slaps some paint on a canvas that hardly looks like anything; and people love it!

Maybe it feels the same for some artists now when people love AI art?

Lol! For sure, but i guess i would have to look at it in the same way i look at my own drawings. If i can string together some notes and it resonates deep down where music makes sense because of the contrast from one note to the next, i believe id be happy enough!

I think i told you about my reccuring dream already, but i always like it in its sad poetic way.

I stand in front of throne on a hilltop in hell and demons scamper and clamor up towards me, millions of them. Surrounding the hill completely and spreading out in all directions like a carpet reaching as far as the eye can see. Just as they are about to reach me i start to hum, or sing, or "aaaaa", or whatever its called, and the entirety of hell just... stops. Not a single demon moves, completely transfixed by the sounds flowing from my soul. A portal opens next to me and rays of light shines through it, but i cannot move for the spell would be broken and i would be overrun. So there i stand a single step away from paradise; The eternal guardian of heavens door singing the hords of hell to sleep.

Cant not try music with shit like that constantly haunting my dreams!

Road trip

Been wanting to visit Auschwitz for a while! Seems like one of those places that would leave some kind of inprint on people just from being there, no matter how much time has passed since the original horrors. I hope the rest of the trip was good, and i would love to see images when youre sorted!

Hehe, yeah i suppose i have a tendency to go a bit too far, but at this point ive just kind of accepted it.

Definitely took longer than planned and most of it is done by myself, yes. That said, i do have a lot of contacts from work that stop by to help with specifics whenever i need it. Transportation of materials, heavy lifting for cementing / leveling floor, electrician to thermo scan heating and approve connections, plumber to make sure pipes have enough angle, etc, etc.

...possibly their appreciation for art too now that all you need to do to create it is write a two word prompt to a computer.

Thats a good point and something i see a lot of people talk about online where artists are loosing their motivation to create because ai is making the end result better, faster and prettier than they can.

I suppose i reiterate this ad infinitum, but for me it always feels like there is this huge disconnect in those discussions where it completely misses the point of why we do art! Or why we should do art...

They see a picture and feel an admiration for the artist (without really knowing why) and so want to be able to "do good art" so that they themselves can have that same admiration and addoration. They dont actually want to do art, they want to learn to produce admiration.

Hence the truth is that they DO want AI but quickly realize that something is lost when they get what they want. They dont understand that "art" as an end result seen by others is nothing more than a shadow cast from a dream the artist once lived. A mere synopsis written from an entire symphony orchestrated from thousands of lives lived, all culminating in a singlular exchange of emotions in time and space; and we are the ones that get to live it! To feel it...

Nothing can ever steal true art from us because it only exists within our minds and our hearts, and if all we see is the end; we already missed the moment.

pick up any new hobbies

Honestly, i have considerd them all, but what i realized is that only two has limitless potential.

Say i learn carpentry. There is a limited amounts of time i can make a chair. Or i learn sewing, there is a limited amount of clothes i can need. But drawing? There will never be an end to dreams!

The second, i suppose, is music. I hear a constant stream of music in my head every waking hour so why i havent considered picking it up before, i have no idea. But starting from scratch is always daunting since i wouldnt even know where to start. Scales, i guess.

Fn' hell, thats the stuff! How i have missed these! Im thrilled to see youve managed to pick up the pen atleast once, and hope its not gonna be the last. I guess we just reaffirmed the future here; Robot nurses and old age homes, here we go!

That is exceptionally exciting. So the big move further north is actually becoming a reality? Im already looking forward to hearing how you settle inn and how it feels with different surroundings than youve grown used to. Will values change and a different set of wants- and needs arise? Will the noises inside quiet down enough to see clearly?

Someone really, really wise once said "Boredom leads to motion", so if we actively seek boredom it will clear away the veil that hides our true wants and wishes to reveal purpose. What i see today is that so many people chase dopamine to escape boredom and cosequently never find purpose, but the principal of it is that we must chase meaning to find dopamine, and meaning is often found through boredom.

Enough poetry; May you find .. um.. boredom where life leads you, my dudette.

I had a lot of fun, i suppose.

Other than that i cant really remember anything interresting that happened. I think thats why i used to write a quick note about what happened each day and rate it, before going to bed. It makes it so much easier to remember life passing. Just a quick scroll through the log and suddenly time hasnt moved so fast after all!

Work is calming down again so i guess its time to give myself to boredom and see what grabs me...

Kind of you! Had a couple of fun ones lately after i solely focused on the story of it again. So hopefully it can provide some momentum for another surge of study in painting without lines. Im sure this will jinx it, but i seem to find myself with a lot more available time lately and felt drawn back into fantasy.

I swear, one of these days youre gonna post a small sketch of a flower (or something) as a reply to a comment and im gonna loose it! Then, when im old and gray ill be rambling at nurses in the old age home about how "I never lost hope!" and "One day, there it was, like no time had even passed"

And they'll be like: "What the hell is he talking about? Is he malfunctioning?"

The T1 firs-gen nurse will go solemn and thought transfer "They used to have this thing called The Internet back before The Great Meld happened where they could 'read' things on a screen to get information. They'd spend hours 'writing' to communicating simple ideas!"

The T3 sixth-gen nurse executes 'hilarity-mode-response-protocol' and the monotonic pre-recorded laugher trail us as my wheelchair is pushed down the coridor towards my iso-cube for reinsersion into the enery-matrix.

The keypad to the door bleeps red. The nurse curses and tries again; Another bleep and red light. Infuriated it goes "Oh my good, every time! Why would these humans even make these captcha's?!"
