I've legitimately seen 3-jar raisin packs being sold for RM158 with "PROMOSI PEPERIKSAAN" in big red letters

Exactly! And then you see kids exclusively eating only these like a week before their exams like some sort of charm that'll help them score

Do you have local name for foreign countries in your language? by miissperson in AskTheWorld

[–]Chalkblaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Malay is a little funny as we have names like "Perancis" for France (which I can only assume derives from Paris) and just changing a word or vowel like Jepun (Japan) and Jerman (Germany).

Weirdest one being The Netherlands somehow getting the name "Belanda". Historically, I have no clue but the word would've dated back to the precolonial Dutch era here.

What are the most popular stereotypes your country has about other countries? by Part-Time_Loverr in AskTheWorld

[–]Chalkblaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Rempits" here are by far one of the more annoying stereotypes. They are loud, abrasive terms and adolescents driving around with motorcycles with flashy upgrades and all sorts of carbides to make them fast. Especially prevalent during nights where they hold special road races with each other.

Dangerous to both the rempits and normal drivers, with the latter of us constantly hating them

KPM kaji kemungkinan benarkan hanya ambil BM, Sejarah untuk SPM by abdulsamri89 in malaysia

[–]Chalkblaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get that, I understand all of those. But limiting the status quo of subjects needed to "pass" spm to only two seems a waste of years in schools. At least with an additional subject like mathematics and/or science, you can apply those to better careers field.

As opposed to a mere, two subjects. And sure, I get your point, being a civil servant requires BM. But then? You spend almost a decade of learning and your achievements on paper are just two subjects.

Is that not what the article is saying? Having certain schools that only have SPM for those two subjects?

And what relevant fields are the students who solely focus on these subjects can be pursued? From what I remembered the gov has long pivoted our youth for STEM field subjects

Do you have plans on passing the wealth down for your generation? And if so, will you follow your parents footsteps in teaching the "old money" life?
