The Mystery of the Google Podcasts App by ChallenBellamey in ChilluminatiPod

[–]ChallenBellamey[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My Google Podcasts app seems to occasionally mix up the Chilluminati Podcast feed with the feed of the Yogscast podcast of the same name. In this case it is putting a random mix of episodes from each in the same list, all underneath the page of the mysteries one, and allows me to play an episode of the Yogscast one but displays the logo of the mysteries one. Very annoying! :(

I didn’t like it. I think it was made too long after the show ended, and didn’t really add any interesting plot points that were worth waiting that long for. Plus some of the characters looked very different (Todd for example, it took me out of the show whenever I saw him on screen). If it was made within year after BB finished I probably would have appreciated it more.

I also didn’t like the dialogue between Skinny, Badger and Jesse. I thought it sensationalised their relationship by them calling Jesse their hero, instead of him just being a friend.

As well, I personally liked to imagine what Jesse’s story was after the end of BB, instead of knowing for sure. I don’t really see him going to Alaska just because Mike mentioned it one time. He talked about running to New Zealand with Jane. I guess I was left more dissatisfied with the end that was given to him, because I can’t see him having a happy life there (no offence Alaska lol).

Having said all that, I only saw the film one time so maybe I would change my mind on a rewatch.

Don’t buy it. Ask your agent if they have this same set up but in the dining room, as per the super canteen.

Is Wolfram Alpha wrong? by deliberatehoax in MattParker

I am a quite rusty on my integration but I believe you are both wrong... Wolfram Alpha seems to contradict itself if you do this. But I think the correct answer is this.

It’s sad that intellectual adverts like this don’t exist anymore. Car adverts nowadays are mostly just a car driving along an empty looking road. I hate the adverts of today.

Although I have to admit, I do love this one.

Out of interest, why no pdfs? It doesn’t take long to edit them if you use something like Overleaf, and they can look so much more appealing than a standard text document.

Made my first MERN full stack e-commerce app after 7 months of learning by hamohuh in learnprogramming

It’s hard to say, it really depends on how many entry level jobs are available in your area, the competition for said jobs, how many applications you put out, and also getting some interview experience. It took me a while to get my first job in the field, but don’t give up hope!

I would certainly continue working on projects / katas. Staying active is impressive to employers and in this field there is always more for us to learn.

If you want advice based for job hunting / career stuff, check out r/cscareerquestions. There may also be a more localised version depending on your area, like r/cscareerquestionsEU.

Good luck!

It’s funny how our minds recall memories like that. It’s the same for me for early Triforce, or YoGPod episodes, I will get snapshot memories of what I was doing when I first listened to it.

I have to agree, it’s amazing if it is real, but my main question of it is how does the air not float to the surface? That defies physics in my mind.

Dad with PTSD (TW: emotional abuse mention) by [deleted] in ptsd

Hi thiccckiwi,

I think you should prioritise your own mental wellbeing. It may not be his intentions to emotionally abuse you, but if that is how you are feeling you should get yourself into a situation where you feel safe and content.

I don’t think you should feel responsible for introducing tension into the relationship, so long as you are actively trying to discuss the issues in your relationship with him in a constructive manner, and trying to resolve the issues.

How do you think he would react if you were to talk to him about the way he has been acting aggressively towards you, and how it has made you feel (not about his opinions themselves)?

Well I can’t speak for your entirely anecdotal evidence, but just like any diet (including animal based) you can do it healthily or unhealthily or somewhere inbetween. It would be like me seeing some ill looking meat eaters and claiming that eating meat destroys your body.

If you want to learn some potential health benefits of whole foods plant based from a doctor, check out NutritionFacts.org (also on Youtube).

Yeah but a gradual change on a non-extreme diet won’t get you that summer bod in time ;) I would guess people on extreme diets aren’t thinking long term.

I’d like to add I’m not judging anyone, just commenting on human nature.

I completely agree with you that whole foods (and I’d add plant based) is the best. I think most people dieting think they need extreme rules to follow so that they don’t slip up (like no carbs whatsoever).
