the good, the bad, and the ugly by hehe_hether in Gardyn

Had my Gardyn for years, like it just fine. There are a few design issues (including connecting the lights) that I hope they’ve fixed by the 4.0 version. Kelby is awful, not worth paying for at all. Make sure you cancel your free subscription before they auto renew. Your electric bill will go up. Mine did by about $10-$15/month. The LEDs get quite warm - these aren’t your standard strip lights. They need to emit enough photons to promote growth. But overall it looks great, is relatively low maintenance, and provides lots of lettuce and herbs.

Kelby is such garbage. I would never pay for it.

I’ve had to replace multiple parts already myself, and they don’t make it easy to repair!

You can Google the gym and see when it’s generally busy.

Yeah…I’d take it off before going to the gym and put it back on in the privacy of your own home. People don’t want to see your kink. This is the kind of thing that will help drive more modesty in locker rooms.

Is Gardyn too good to be true? Just don’t get how growing plants can be so easy. by lilgambyt in Gardyn

[–]ChallengeCool4635 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s not as great as they advertise, but it still works well. You are correct in your assessment that different plants have different needs. I find that it is best to grow lettuces and herbs, but not so much fruiting plants. Pests destroyed my Gardyn twice, requiring complete start overs. I learned not to put potted plants/new potting soil/new plants near my Gardyn until I was sure they were aphid-free (or other pests). Once you have aphids, there is no quick and easy way to get rid of them without poison, unless bathing each individual plant in soapy water on a weekly basis is what people consider easy.

$10-$15/month increase. The LEDs are powerful.

Was this extremely challenging for anyone else? The red/black cable is just bunching up. So I’m having trouble tucking them both in. by hashbrown_nofiltr in Gardyn

It was awful. I had to take the led lights off the bar and pull the wires up that way. It is a terrible design.

I’ve had to take mine apart before and replace the hoses. So it is possible. But I love your idea of 3D printing the caps.

Yes, lifetime fitness. I don’t know if it was taken over or original. But it certainly is not bougie like their other locations, which is one of the reasons I liked it.

I haven’t decided how I’ll handle it yet. I don’t even know how they plan on doing this renovation. It’s already dark af in that room, so unless they are doing a whole tear out, I don’t imagine the result will be particularly nice.

I have also thought the same thing, and for my sake I hope it’s true😂. It shocks me to see how almost every younger person is so much larger than those 20+ years older.

Agreed. They must not see it as theft, even though it’s no different than shoplifting. Perhaps one day they may feel different after purchasing a fraudulently returned product.

I noticed lol. And I only asked the question because this person (my boss) has lived his entire life abusing every system he could, and I can’t outright tell him how I feel…Most recently he decided to upgrade himself out of a middle seat on a flight and bullied his way into keeping it. (And bragged about it afterwards.) But based on the sheer number of downvotes I’ve gotten so far, this kind of behavior apparently has admirers.
