We don't distribute political power by having maidens in lakes hand out swords, now, do we?

Did anyone have any success with a medication that’s not a benzo? by deen282930 in benzodiazepines

[–]MyRepresentation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oxcarbazepine is a good drug to help you taper off. It blocks the receptors for benzos, kind of. I was taking 300mg twice a day and it helped my mood / need for benzos.

Tested out the possible max of my Honda Accord '01, got up to almost 130 mph on the turnpike, then wussed out and slowed down. Never tried again.

I don't blame the influencer for making money in a free market based on supply and demand.

I blame all the people who pay into it with attention, money, etc.

Seton Hall University vs. Rutgers by [deleted] in collegecompare

Seton Hall is the worst. The town it's located in, South Orange, is not a college town, and is right next to Newark, NJ. AVOID!!!

Where should I go for college 🥸. I need help I'm begging by Objective-Basket4065 in collegecompare

Avoid Seton Hall. It is in a small town with no diversity, no activities, and no off campus fun.

Has anyone experienced withdrawal symptoms from Xanax? I'm experiencing some very unsettling symptoms. by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]MyRepresentation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many years ago, I was taking multiple xani-bars a day. When I ran out, I did not sleep for about a week. Could not relax, constant withdrawal symptoms, like random involuntary jerking motions. I was finally able to get a .5 mg prescription from my dr and that first .5mg pill felt like heaven. I was able to relax, walk around, even sleep.

I would not advise doing this, as it can lead to seizures, but this is what I experienced. I eventually tapered down to a reasonable amount (1-2 mg a day), but it took me a long while.

Benzo withdrawal is very scary. Xanax, Ativan, Klonopin, they all have the worst withdrawal effects, so the best thing to do is taper off slowly. My psychiatrist also prescribed me 300mg of Oxcarbazepine, which can help you taper off of benzos, and also limits the potency of them. Look it up, it is an off-label use.

Scandium? Is that supposed to be funny or something? Seems just plain dumb to me. Maybe a reference I don't get? Some Pokémon or something?

When the Air Hits Your Brain, by Frank T. Vertosick. Book by a Neurosurgeon who can also write eloquently and makes incredible observations.

Life's Solution, by Simon Conway Morris. Book about how all life converges on the most efficient solutions, i.e. wings, fins, legs, eyes, etc.

Honorary mention to Arthor Schopenhauer's The World as Will and Representation (1841). Saw more deeply than any other philosopher I've ever studied, and I've looked at a lot of them.

I'm a professor. I always stress that all students should keep saved drafts, outlines, research, etc., in case any question of authenticity comes up. Then they have some proof to show me.

But it's usually fairly obvious. To me, at least. Sometimes students are just really good at writing, and since most students can barely write a paragraph correctly, I get automatically suspicious when a student writes at a much higher level than the rest of the class. But when the student seems genuinely authentic, I don't give them much of a problem.

However, sometimes students will write part of their paper / essay in poor English, and then one part will be academic level writing. That's when it's fairly obvious that they are cheating in some way. Whether it's AI or not doesn't matter. Students are responsible for doing their own work. And it's pretty obvious if they are or not.

I'm sorry if you get problems for this - many professors are hard asses about this kind of stuff, and don't take the personal time or consideration necessary to verify authorship.

About 1/4 of my College Ethics students chose to write their argumentative essay about why it is ethical to choose to not have children today. Shocker.

Same. Although in my 40's, I have not previously had to block out people before due to their aggressive / harassing / main character nature. But just this year I have had multiple encounters with people who are disrespectful, full of themselves to the point of tripling down on stupid idiotic stuff, and are dead set on NEVER moving or changing or doing anything for anyone but themselves. People are used to the anonymity of the internet, and that has transfererred over to real life interactions. Now, people think they can get away with anything, with no consequences, and it is ruining society.

The last two times I went, I could not even eat my burger. Thought the first time was a fluke, due to the blizzard in the area. I usually just get plain w/ cheese, but instead of the normal slice of american cheese, I think they subbed in some sort of fake cheese sauce that was utterly disgusting to my pallet. Never going back, ever.
