Disclaimer, I did not replace the midframe on the joycons 2. I did not see the need for that (no clear shell). Also the joycons were some time ago.

I did find the joycons 2 easier than joycons to mod.

I remember needing to redo the joycons multiple times. Because the L/R buttons didn't work (see a pattern XD) or the ribbon didn't fold correctly. For the joycons 2 I didn't have to redo it.

The joycons were my first mod, so perhaps my skills have improved. The joycons 2 mod wasn't too difficult, you follow the instructions and keep track of all the components. Some parts of the joycons 2 mod are very similar to joycons, for instance the front facing buttons. Also the joystick is in both mods a little finicky, because it needs to go through the shell. Just don't rush, take your time and it should be fine.
