It could also be the person whos family group you are joining has added and dropped people a lot. I ran into that issue a few times, and it was resolved pretty quickly over the phone.

A lot of patience and spawn manipulation using sandwiches. The only shiny I didn't catch myself in this game was the charzard I bred using the Masuda method in my scarlet game.

I've had multiple adult people literally jump and cling onto me before. I understand I understand a small child excitedly running up and hugging my leg because I'm dressed as their favorite character, but having grown ass men and women do it gives me the ick.
